Job Description Wise is looking for a SEO Content Specialist to join our growing SEO Content team and grow new business customers through B2B content for our Japan market. This role will be based in our Tokyo office.

Content and SEO at Wise is about making sure we offer the best possible content and on‑site experience to our customers. We don’t believe in stuffing keywords in a blog article or building artificial links – but we do believe in great copy that inspires and helps readers to find answers.

This role is for candidates with senior‑level experience in developing long‑term SEO content plans for websites and blogs. You will take the lead on the business content strategy for Wise’s JP blog and collaborate closely with freelance copywriters.

We’re looking for candidates who understand the Japanese market, and speak English and Japanese to take care of our Japanese blog.

Japan is one of the biggest locales at Wise and we need you to accelerate its growth! The target audience is Japanese‑speaking people in Japan and abroad.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about content creation, digital marketing, and/or SEO. If you already have some knowledge and experience in SEO, that is a huge plus!

Your Mission

Produce high quality SEO optimised business content in Japanese for Wise Japanese blog to help fuel adoption of Wise by business customers

Revisit, optimise and improve older articles to boost their performance

Own your content – from ideas to briefing, proofreading, editing and finally publishing articles: you will own every stage of the process

Understand the nuances of business customers, identifying their specific needs, wants, and pain points within the Japanese market, ensuring Wise's products are presented as the right fit

Explain our products in an easy to understand way for the readers

Conduct keyword research to plan content that drives organic traffic to our blog and attract new business customers

Find, coordinate and manage a bunch of talented freelance writers

Edit copy – you’re not afraid to fix copy or make direct changes when necessary

Make data‑driven decisions using a range of SEO and analytics tools

Know and proactively monitor the competitor landscape in your locale

Size up and prioritise content projects/initiatives based on high growth impact/potential

Articulate and write‑up the problem you're trying to solve as well as your hypothesis for how to fix it

Communicate key insights and obstacles to the team and broader Marketing team

Collaborate with regional marketing channels and product managers to align and discover new content opportunities

Follow frameworks – you will ensure our content follows legal, brand and PR guidelines

Qualifications About You

You have a good understanding of the Japanese Market and have local insights about the needs and pain‑points of managing money internationally in Japan

You have 2‑3 years of SEO content experience and have independently created content plans that demonstrably impacted the business goals of the brand or website.

You are fluent in both written and spoken English – our internal communication language is English, so this is a must!

You are curious about using AI and automation to boost productivity

You have a keen eye for content quality, and can assess readability with a native speaker proficiency

You have a great eye for detail and what makes ‘good’ content when it comes to words and visuals; from small copy changes to fixing blog articles in bulk

It’s a plus if you yourself used Wise or similar products to move/manage your money internationally

You love data. From traffic numbers to conversion rates, you understand how to measure the performance of your work

You’re great at building relationships and working with people outside of your own team to get things done (e.g. local freelancers, other teams at Wise)

You are able to use different SEO tools (GA, GSC, Ahrefs, SEMRush and Looker (bonus)) and explain your analysis/findings to other people in an easy‑to‑understand way

You’re strategic and used to building hypotheses/ new initiatives backed by data

You thrive more on autonomy than structure. You’re not afraid to take responsibility and ownership of your work

If you have some experience of using or working with digital finance brands, banks or products, it’s a plus

Having experience with marketing to business customers in Japan, or B2B marketing in general, is a plus

Please be aware that this role requires a background in strategic content planning, not solely content writing or technical SEO. Your primary focus will be on creating long‑term content pipelines rather than writing or technical optimisations.

Additional Information Salary: JPY6,624,000 – JPY8,352,000 per annum + RSUs
