We are an Atlanta-based organization seeking an
Instructional Designer
specializing in workforce training for senior/elder care services. This contractor will design and develop high-quality, practical online learning experiences for non-medical professionals serving older adults.
The primary objective of this engagement is to translate subject matter expertise and regulatory-informed content into engaging, learner-centered digital courses that support workforce readiness, compliance alignment, and real-world application across senior care settings.
The ideal candidate is an experienced instructional designer who understands adult learning principles and has successfully built online training for various audiences. This individual is comfortable working independently, collaborating with subject matter experts, and delivering polished learning products that meet organizational standards and branding.
Key Responsibilities Instructional Design & Course Development
Design and structure online courses for non-medical senior care staff, including direct caregivers, administrative personnel, and support roles
Apply adult learning theory to create clear, accessible, and engaging learning experiences
Develop instructional strategies and concepts that reflect real-world senior care environments and workforce needs
Ensure learning objectives, assessments, and activities are aligned, engaging, and measurable
Content Translation & Multimedia Development
Convert provided materials (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, PDF, reference content) into interactive, mobile-first e-learning
Develop and/or edit visual, audio, and video assets to enhance instructional impact; provide accompanying resources/reference materials
Build interactive learning components such as scenarios, simulations, and assessments
Test courses thoroughly to ensure functionality, usability, and SCORM compliance
Collaboration & Quality Assurance
Collaborate with internal teams, subject matter experts, and creative partners to ensure accuracy, consistency, and brand alignment
Participate in structured feedback and revision cycles to continuously improve course quality
Adhere to established design standards, timelines, and deliverables
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 2+ years of experience in instructional design, including online learning development
Demonstrated expertise using Articulate 360 Storyline
Working knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM, backward design)
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications and Adobe design tools
Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and incorporate feedback effectively
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with learning management systems (LMS)
Familiarity with credentialing, continuing education requirements, and/or workforce compliance training
Experience developing training for senior care workforce/environments or other community-based/human services settings
Work Arrangement
Contract engagement, with potential for longer-term or expanded work based on performance and organizational needs
Ability to work between 30-40 hrs/wk
Flexible schedule with defined milestones and deliverables
