
Accounting Assistant - Real Estate

The Property Accounting Assistant is responsible for providing financial, clerical, and administrative support to ensure accurate and timely processing of accounts payable and receivable. This role supports day-to-day accounting operations and assists with maintaining financial records in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Review, verify, and process invoices for payment
Ensure timely payment of vendors
Record and apply tenant payments accurately
Research, reconcile, and resolve discrepancies
Perform billing and reporting activities within established deadlines
Complete account and bank reconciliations
Generate aging reports and assist with financial analysis
Support Property Accountants and the broader Accounting team as needed
Prepare and process bank deposits
Respond to and resolve inquiries from vendors and customers
Collaborate with internal teams including accounting, leasing, and property management
Assist with billing functions within property management/accounting systems
Perform additional duties as assigned
Education
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
Relevant accounting coursework or certifications considered
Qualifications
2+ years of hands-on accounting experience (Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable required)
Experience with accounting software; property management systems (e.g., Yardi) preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PDF tools
