
Analytical Chemist - Ion Chromatography

Our client, a leading manufacturer of high purity specialty chemicals, is looking for a skilled Analytical Chemist (Ion Chromatography) to join their growing team in St. Louis, MO!
Summary We are seeking a skilled Chemist with strong hands‑on experience in Ion Chromatography (IC) to support advanced analytical testing and method development within our laboratory. This role requires deep technical expertise in IC instrumentation, as well as the ability to independently troubleshoot and optimize analytical methods.
Schedule:
M-F - 8am-5pm

St. Louis, MO
Pay rate:
$30- $32/hr.

6-month contract - hire
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine and advanced analysis of anions and cations using Ion Chromatography
Develop, optimize, and validate IC methods for a variety of sample matrices
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot IC systems (e.g., Dionex/Thermo ICS, Metrohm platforms)
Prepare eluents, standards, and calibration curves with high accuracy
Monitor system suitability and ensure data quality and compliance with laboratory standards
Investigate and resolve instrument issues such as pressure fluctuations, baseline instability, suppressor failures, and contamination
Interpret and report quantitative data with a high degree of accuracy
Maintain proper documentation in accordance with regulatory and quality requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related scientific field
2–5+ years of direct, hands‑on experience with Ion Chromatography
Proven experience with method development, validation, and routine sample analysis
Strong understanding of:
Conductivity and electrochemical detection
Suppressor technologies and operation
Gradient methods and separation optimization
System suitability requirements
Proficiency with chromatography data systems (CDS), such as Chromeleon or similar software
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot IC instrumentation independently
Strong attention to detail and data integrity
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in regulated environments (e.g., pharmaceutical, environmental, or food testing labs)
Familiarity with GLP, GMP, or ISO standards
Experience with complex sample matrices
