Job Summary This position works in the Student Business Services area, performing moderately complex accounting operations, enforcing policies & procedures, researching and resolving discrepancies, and responding to inquiries related to student financials. It provides customer service and guidance to students, faculty, and staff.

Essential Functions

30%

– Provide customer service in person, by phone and online to students, faculty, staff and the general public; interpret and assist others in understanding student accounts; respond to complex inquiries related to student financials, fiscal policies and procedures, financial aid and third‑party billing; adhere to and ensure compliance with applicable policies and procedures; and monitor work of temporary staff; collaborate with other departments to support student success.

– Perform daily cash count, open and close office in SIS; balance and reconcile daily business, prepare cash summaries and bank deposits; maintain accurate records; audit data entry to student accounts; download electronic reports from various online systems for review and reconciliation; review forms and documents for completeness and accuracy; create and maintain spreadsheets for data recording and reporting purposes.

– Process payments for student tuition and fees, third‑party vouchers, fines, facility rentals, department payments and any proceeds from campus events; review and verify refund status and payment plan status; process student account refunds; prepare and reconcile cash boxes.

– Assist at cashier window for employees and students.

– Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and four (4) years of financial support experience in an area related to the assignment such as fiscal, finance, accounts receivable/payable, or payroll.

OR

an equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full‑time work experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

Desired Qualifications

Two (2) years of customer service experience in a business office in higher education or government organization.

Two (2) years of experience with online student information and/or accounting systems, preferably PeopleSoft.

Two (2) years of experience with cash handling, financial reporting, account reconciliation and/or record keeping.

Experience communicating policies and/or procedures, preferably in higher education or government organization.

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.

College degree in a business‑related field such as accounting, finance, management, or marketing.

Special Working Conditions

Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving.

Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense.

Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations.

May require numerous evenings or weekends.

May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen.

May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs.
