Position Summary: The Donor Relations Associate plays an integral role in the success of the Great Lakes Division's fund development efforts. The Donor Relations Associate serves a portfolio of donors by initiating, building and maintaining dynamic, reciprocal relationships with individuals, couples, and families who have a desire to partner financially with The Salvation Army.

Essential Responsibilities:

Manages a portfolio of 250 - 300 of the organization's Tier-C giving prospects and donors.
Works collaboratively with the Donor Relations staff to identify major gift donor prospects among the Tier-C donors and helps steward donors who have reached their maximum giving potential.
Coordinates the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship efforts for Tier-C donors through strategic communications, mission-driven donor experiences, and personalization.
Oversees a range of activities that result in donors feeling appreciated, developing deeper bonds with, and greater affection for The Salvation Army and its mission.
Partners with leaders, colleagues, and members of the Development Department to achieve organizational goals.
Captures new information for entry into the donor's database record regarding donor's interests, relationships, life events, and information about capacity for philanthropic giving.
Learns and stays current with information about Salvation Army programs and projects and effectively communicates the mission to donors.
Meets with the Senior Donor Relations Director on a weekly basis for accountability and to discuss strategy and moves.
Identifies and utilizes the most effective means of communication with individual donors (phone, email, regular mail, texting, etc.). For accounts that qualify at the highest level within the tier, face-to-face communication may be possible.
Travel within local community and throughout the Great Lakes Division, as needed.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree (preferred)
4 - 5 years of relationship building or related work experience or comparable experience, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Position Summary:
JOB SUMMARY\nUnder the leadership of the Director of Development, the Director of Annual Giving will implement and manage a strategic plan for Mid-Pacific’s annual giving and parent relations programs. This role generates private support for Mid-Pacific through both traditional and more modern approaches using AI. In collaboration with the Director of Development, the Director will create and manage a robust Mid-Pacific Fund, evaluating programming to increase gift levels, upgrading donors, and executing comprehensive annual giving solicitations for both the Mid-Pacific Fund and restricted annual gifts. The Director will lead Mid-Pacific's annual giving activities and programs to ensure that data-driven cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies are implemented to meet fundraising goals.

Additionally, the Director will design and execute a strategic plan for the long-term development of Mid-Pacific’s donor relations with parents, alumni, grandparents, and other constituencies. This includes close collaboration with the Director of Development, Vice President of Institutional Advancement, Director of Alumni Engagement, and members of Na Ohana Pueo (NOP).

Annual Fund Responsibilities, Percent of Time: 75%

The Director’s primary responsibility is the strategic execution and management of a comprehensive annual giving program, and will:

Develop a coordinated matrix of traditional and innovative communication and solicitation strategies involving email, social media, direct mail, phone, text, and volunteer engagement, all focused on shaping a tradition of sustainable annual support.

In conjunction with the VPIA, provide strategic direction and recommendations for long range/short-range fundraising and planning, specifically in the context of growing the annual giving program while supporting the greater development and campaign goals of MPI Institutional Advancement.

Be responsible for ensuring that MPI is a leader among peers on Oahu as measured externally in terms of total dollars, alumni percentage participation, consistency of giving and average gift size, and internally in terms of clean data, ease of access to date and timely annual fund donor stewardship.

Plan, execute, and evaluate the school's annual giving activities and programs to ensure appropriate cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies are implemented and that fundraising goals are met.

Collaborate with various constituencies (parents, alumni, grandparents, community friends, and others) to establish constituency-based annual fund goals and objectives and new programs based upon their own assessment of needs.

Assist units on campus to develop long-term and comprehensive annual giving programs that include the following constituents: students, parents, community friends, and alumni, to promote the importance of annual giving.

Formulate goals for annual giving programs with as it relates to the reunion and senior class gift programs (10-10), telephone outreach, social media, texting, email, and e-giving campaigns; including designated ask campaign detailed planning. Goals to include pledges, multi-year pledges, cash received, number of donors, contact rates, pledge percentage, renewing donors, giving level upgrades, and average gift.

Work collaboratively with technical and Information Technology staff to develop and implement plans to integrate new technology (e.g., electronic data transfer, etc.) into processing functions.

Work collaboratively with the Director of Alumni Relations, Donor Relations Specialist, Director of Communications, and other MPI staff and faculty to help facilitate a culture of philanthropy and integrated communications across the MPI campus.

Represent MPI at meetings and conferences with colleagues from other independent schools, and for the collection and exchange of ideas and information where appropriate.

In collaboration with VPIA, develop and provide strategic planning proposals for Annual Giving programs and performance reports to Deans, Directors, and Program Managers throughout campus. Design, manage, and conduct training programs and workshops for internal and campus personnel, providing instruction in annual giving programs and procedures.

The Director will work in partnership with Advancement staff to explore new ways to engage volunteers and outreach opportunities.

Maintain effective working relationships with other departments in and outside MPI Institutional Advancement.

Annual Leadership Giving Portfolio: 25%

The Director is also responsible for developing lasting relationships with parents, grandparents, and families that strengthen Mid-Pacific Institute’s ties with Leadership Gifts within Annual Giving.

The Director will work with the Director of Development, Sr. Gift Officers, and Advancement Services to build a small (20-30) portfolio of Annual Leadership prospects to increase giving and qualify for Major Gifts.

The Director will manage the budget, including program development, secure resources from key stakeholders, and nurture event sponsors in a strategic manner.

As a member of the Office of Institutional Advancement, the Director will also be asked to manage special projects as needed and assigned. This position reports to the Director of Development.

QUALIFICATIONS and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.

A minimum of three years of progressively responsible development experience in not for profit or private sector fundraising, including a strong documented record of gift solicitation in annual gifts.
