
Senior Prospect Analyst

JOB OVERVIEW
The George Washington University Division of University Advancement is seeking a Senior Prospect Analyst.
University Advancement is responsible for leading the university’s alumni and fundraising efforts and seeks to promote a culture of philanthropy throughout the university community, including alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff, corporations and foundations, patients, and other friends. Our goal is to advance GW’s mission of excellence in education, research, scholarship, and patient care.
This senior-level role conducts research on potential prospects to support fundraising initiatives with minimal supervision. Core responsibilities include gathering and analyzing information on prospective donors, interpreting and synthesizing data, and presenting findings in a clear, actionable format. The position works to align the philanthropic and financial interests of prospects with organizational goals.
KEY DUTIES
Proactively identifying prospects individually and through screenings and alerts
Preparing detailed reports that deliver critical intelligence to guide engagement and solicitation strategies, and partnering with fundraisers to ensure the right prospect is approached for the right gift at the right time.
Collaborates with team members to share expertise and may supervise students and/or one staff member.
Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Extensive experience in prospect research and prospect development.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities and diplomacy to collaborate effectively with university and advancement partners.
Demonstrate active listening and empathetic engagement to understand and address partner needs, ensuring a high level of satisfaction.
Skilled at collaborating in team environments, including with remote staff, and experienced in training and mentoring others.
Proficiency with relational databases and Microsoft Office is preferred.
Comfortable with online research tools such as LexisNexis, Candid, iWave, Wealth‑X, Windfall, Insightful, RelSci, and PACER.
Experience using both primary and secondary resources, as well as the ability to analyze, clarify, and present data from multiple sources, including the SEC and IRS.
Be skilled in conducting relationship and connection research to identify and interpret linkages between individuals and between individuals and organizations.
Self‑directed learner with advanced competency aligned to the Apra Body of Knowledge.
Skilled in applying privacy laws, ethical principles, and professional standards to manage highly sensitive information with sound judgment and discretion.
