INTERNSHIP - User Assistance Technical Writer
This role is for a User Assistance Technical Writer to support the SOLIDWORKS User Assistance team. The team’s mission is “to design, develop, and continuously improve user assistance content that is thorough, accurate, engaging, easy-to-find, and relevant so that users can onboard quickly and do their work effectively.” The team documents all SOLIDWORKS-branded CAD and related apps, including SOLIDWORKS Design, DraftSight, xDesign, and many others.
Responsibilities
Learn the core principles and techniques of modern technical writing within a fast-paced, global, best-in-class writing team
Learn how to use SOLIDWORKS apps and the User Assistance team's content creation and management tools
Develop new content and incorporate new content written by others into existing documents
Review and modify both existing user assistance content and new content developed by the team to improve its quality and impact
Contribute to the team’s current goal of expanding the visual content (images, animations, videos) in our documentation
Contribute to the team's efforts to improve its efficiency and productivity, including but not limited to the adoption of AI/LLM tools in appropriate parts of workflows
Bring a fresh perspective to our team and offer ideas for changing what we create and how we work
Qualifications
Outstanding written communication skills, as demonstrated by writing samples and by grades and comments received in writing-intensive college courses
Excellent spoken communication skills
Demonstrated ability to analyze and explain technical subject matter
A high level of comfort with computers and software
Highly motivated to learn the profession of technical writing
Fascinated by the challenge of analyzing complex material and presenting it clearly and simply
Interested in communicating visually as well as in writing
Able to move easily and quickly between the "student" role (learning from others and working under close supervision) and the "autonomous team member" role (handling increasingly challenging tasks with minimal supervision)
Highly organized with good time management, scheduling, and prioritizing skills
Experience with any of the following (or similar) is a plus:
CAD software
Programming/scripting (especially web development or XML, or AI/LLM)
Graphics or video development
This is a paid internship based at the DASSAULT SYSTEMES Waltham office, located at 175 Wyman St. You will be expected to follow a hybrid work model.

Salary Pay Transparency Compensation for the role will be commensurate with experience. The total expected compensation range will be between $22 and $40 per hour.
