BR+A is seeking an experienced Plumbing and Fire Protection Designer/Engineer for our Raleigh, NC office. This role will be responsible for designing Fire Protection and Plumbing systems for a variety of projects and other tasks such as performing field verification and take-offs of existing systems for renovation projects, coordinating with other disciplines, overseeing deliverables to and from clients, and developing hydraulic calculations for systems.
The Ideal Candidate Should Have The Following Skills
Experience designing Fire Protection and Plumbing systems for Healthcare, Higher Education, and Laboratory projects
Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit
Familiar with specification writing
Good understanding of engineering concepts, design, and spatial requirements
Able to think three-dimensionally
Thorough knowledge of CA plumbing code, model codes and NFPA
Knowledge of Fire Protection systems including wet, dry and specialty systems
Understand work planning and managing the design process to the available hours in the work plan
Capable of meeting and working with clients, owners, and contractors
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Taking ownership of assignments, working both independently and as part of the project team
A positive attitude, results-driven and team-oriented
Able to manage time to meet deadlines
Position Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology
EIT license required
PE and CPD licenses preferred
5-10 years of relevant experience in Plumbing and Fire Protection design
