$96,305-$101,970

POSITION PURPOSE As a member of the administrative team, this role supports the principal in fostering a safe, positive, and high-expectations environment within the school’s athletic programs. The position builds strong working relationships with athletic staff, leads and mentors coaches, and coordinates effectively with other departments and athletic groups. Serves as the primary administrator and liaison for the development, oversight, and operation of all athletic programs, engaging with school, feeder, community, and collegiate partners to ensure student athlete success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Develop and sustain competitive, high-performing athletic programs that strive for excellence, sportsmanship, and success, while maintaining a strong commitment to academic achievement and character development.

Provide guidance and leadership to students, coaches, and athletic staff in sportsmanship, character development, and academic success.

Plan, coordinate, and supervise the activities of the coaching staff, including regular meetings and professional development opportunities.

Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, recommending for hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Oversee student safety protocols for all athletic programs, including supervision of the athletic trainer and coordination of injury prevention, emergency action plans, and return-to-play procedures.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with feeder schools, collaborating with principals and coaches to strengthen the athletic program.

Develop and implement an annual marketing/sponsorship and recruitment plan for the athletic program, including publicity for events and community engagement.

Oversee the monitoring of student athlete academic eligibility and study requirements and ensure student athletes are exposed to collegiate recruiting opportunities.

Supervise the scheduling of practices, contests, and facility use, and manage ticket sales and revenue reporting.

Prepare, monitor, and manage the annual athletic budget and coordinate fundraising activities to support the department.

Maintain accurate records of teams, individual accomplishments, and medical documentation for student-athletes.

Represent the school at local, state, and national meetings, and maintain knowledge of all applicable National Federation, IHSAA, NIC, NCAA, and local rules.

Work closely with booster clubs, parent groups, and community partners to enhance and support the athletic program.

Oversee athletic communications, including social media platforms, digital promotion, and public messaging, ensuring timely, positive, and accurate representation of athletic programs and student athletes.

In collaboration with the maintenance and grounds staff, ensure athletic facilities are safe and properly maintained.

Assist in student supervision and administration of extracurricular activities and ensure compliance with security procedures.

Perform any other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Appropriate certification (Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree as required by the Indiana Department of Education)

First Aid and CPR certified.

Previous experience teaching, directing, and managing large groups of athletes, preferably in a large facility.

Successful coaching experience.

Excellent communication and human relations skills.

Attention to detail, time management skills, and ability to multitask.

Other qualifications as deemed desirable by the School Board.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit and communicate effectively, including talking and hearing. The employee frequently uses hands to handle, operate, or manipulate objects, tools, or controls.

The employee may occasionally be required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects of up to 25 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

There are no environmental hazards indicated for this position.

TERMS Length of year and salary to be determined by the Superintendent and School Board.

EVALUATION Evaluation of performance on this job will be in accordance with the provisions in the corporation policies and guidelines.
