We are working with a small, growing manufacturer in the Greater Boston area to identify a hands-on
Director of Operations . This is a critical leadership role responsible for all aspects of plant operations — production, quality, people, budget, and continuous improvement. The right candidate brings deep manufacturing experience, a roll-up-your-sleeves management style, and a track record of building operational discipline in a lean environment. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily plant operations to meet production targets, quality standards, and delivery timelines. Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Monitor workflow and adjust priorities to accommodate changing demand. Define and track KPIs; implement corrective actions as needed. Support development of short- and long-term operational goals. Oversee routine maintenance and coordinate equipment repairs with vendors and technicians. Lead and mentor a small, cross-functional production team. Drive a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Contribute to budgeting and cost management across labor, materials, and equipment. Qualifications 10+ years in manufacturing or production, including 7+ years of supervisory/leadership experience. Strong command of manufacturing processes, workflow management, and quality systems. Significant ERP/MRP experience. Hands-on management style — comfortable working on the floor alongside the team. Strong problem-solving skills, mechanical aptitude, and attention to detail. Preferred Experience in a small business or startup/growth-stage manufacturing environment. Lean manufacturing or formal process improvement background (Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma, etc.). Familiarity with ISO, OSHA, ITAR, or comparable standards. xywuqvp Compensation: base salary + bonus + corporate type health benefits.
