
Harm Reduction Specialist

The Harm Reduction Specialist provides participant-centered support and engagement related to substance use, sexual health, and self-harm using a harm reduction approach. This role emphasizes non-judgmental, non-coercive services and collaborates with participants and staff to promote safety, wellness, and recovery.

Job Function:
Provide outreach, education, referrals, and supportive services using a harm reduction framework. Develop and support person-centered service plans and provide service coordination. Deliver staff and participant training on harm reduction principles, including HIV prevention. Provide crisis intervention, outreach to disengaged participants, and conflict resolution support. Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with program and regulatory requirements. Advocate for participants with external providers and maintain referral resources. Participate in meetings, supervision, trainings, and harm reduction projects. Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related human services field, or CASAC certification. Minimum of two years of experience working within a harm reduction model. Strong understanding of harm reduction and recovery-oriented practices. Excellent communication, engagement, and documentation skills. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to maintain confidentiality and work collaboratively. Must meet New York State Justice Center fingerprint clearance requirements.
