Duties

Help

Managing information security implications within the organization, specific program, or other areas of responsibility. Oversee the cybersecurity of strategic, personnel, infrastructure, requirements, policy enforcement, emergency planning, and security awareness, as well as other resources. Develops cyberspace plans, strategy, policies and procedures to ensure information system reliability and accessibility and to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data Facilitates the gathering, analysis, and preservation of evidence used in the prosecution of computer crimes. Assesses security events to determine impact and implements corrective actions Ensures the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of all IT services. Conditions of employment

Must be a U.S. Citizen. Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service. This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination. In accordance with the DoD 8140 policy series, the position is subject to completing Foundational Qualifications in 9 months and completing Residential Qualification requirements overall in 12 months. Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) as a condition of employment. Incumbent must successfully complete periodic Counter-Intelligence Polygraph (CI Poly) examinations with No Deception Indicated (NDI) for the duration of federal employment and while maintaining access to Special Compartmented Information (SCI) This position may require the incumbent to work an alternative or shift work schedule. Designated as MISSION ESSENTIAL, the nature of the position's duties and the organization's operational mission requires the incumbent to physically report to the workstation in certain situations when non-essential employees are excused. This is a Key Position. This position cannot be vacated during an emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the organization to function effectively. Qualifications

Oral Communication - briefing mid-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of technical information to a non-technical audience

Problem Solving -

identifying alternatives to address complex information technology-related issues by gathering and applying information from a variety of sources that provide a number of potential solutions

In addition to meeting the basic requirement, qualified applicants must possess:

One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-11) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.

For this position, qualifying experience is defined as mitigating cyber threats and vulnerabilities OR responsibility for operations and maintenance of system security OR ensuring the application of cybersecurity/information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery and defense of all IT services.

qualifying experienceat the GG-12 grade level.

This position is in the Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It is being recruited under 10 U.S.C. 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system. If you are a current Federal Career/Career-Conditional employee, you will be placed on an Excepted appointment. This appointment does not confer eligibility to be non-competitively converted to an appointment in the competitive service. Salary range includes a Targeted Local Market Supplement (TLMS) in accordance with Section 1599f of Title 10 U.S.C. and Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 1400.25, Volume 3006. A three-year trial period may be required if you have not previously completed a trial or probationary period in the excepted or competitive service. Telework availability will be based upon the mission requirements and supervisory determination Individuals tentatively selected for drug testing designated positions at the Defense Information Systems Agency will be required to submit to urinalysis for illegal drugs prior to appointment or placement. This position requires pre-employment and periodic counter-intelligence polygraph exams. We may use this announcement to fill additional vacancies within 90 days of the closing date. Incumbent must sign a statement of understanding and an agreement to continue to perform the duties of this position in the event of a crisis until relieved by proper authority. Incumbent's dependents shall be evacuated from the crisis zone with the same priority as other DoD-sponsored evacuees. You may be required to take the series of anthrax vaccine immunizations to include annual boosters and other immunizations that may in the future be required for this position. Failure to take the immunizations may lead to your removal from this position or separation from Federal Service. This position has been designated as "Mission Essential." Incumbent will be required to report to work or relocate to a new duty location, within the United States, in times of local/national emergency.
