KERA, the public media organization for North Texas, is hiring a Technical Director for a new daily local news program.

POSITION SUMMARY
KERA is seeking a full‑time Technical Director (TD) for its new local news magazine, NTX Now. The TD will engineer the daily live radio broadcast of the show and the live video stream, help book and record interviews for pre‑produced segments, create and distribute additional content from the show’s podcasts, and occasionally support NTX Now events. This position will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards for the show’s sound. It is a FLSA non‑exempt role, not eligible for overtime, and reports to the Managing Producer, NTX Now.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Work closely with the show director during broadcast to transition between segments, play sound and ensure a smooth broadcast.
Connect with remote guests via Microsoft Teams, Zoom, etc. for both live and pre‑recorded hits.
Elevate sound quality of recorded interviews as needed via Adobe Audition.
Execute the daily live video stream in conjunction with NTX Now producers.
Book and pre‑produce segments for the show.
Create additional digital, social and broadcast content from segments of the show.
Upload and distribute the show’s podcasts through PRX.
Work with NTX Now Live Producer to record conversations at events that will air during upcoming shows.
Manage talk studio recording schedule.
Participate in KERA fundraising activities as needed and assigned.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
A minimum of 3‑5 years of live radio broadcasting experience.
Comfort with high‑pressure live radio environment.
Ability to juggle multiple projects/priorities on deadline.
Knowledge of/experience in audio production and editing.
Knowledge of/experience in remote broadcasting/recording.
A passion for public media and serving a diverse audience.
BONUS IF YOU BRING
Experience in journalism.
SALARY RANGE
$62,000 - $72,000, depending on experience.

LOCATION
We expect that this position will work out of our Dallas Fair Park office at least 95% of the time (equivalent to 38 hours per week). Time in office requirements are subject to change based on the needs of KERA and/or the position.
