Carrier Procurement & Relations Specialist
Bids/Analytics Department
Our Client is seeking a Carrier Procurement and Relations Specialist to join our Bids/Analytics Department. This key role is responsible for sourcing and managing carrier relationships, developing competitive procurement strategies, and ensuring best‑in‑class transportation solutions for our clients.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead project management and development of the RFQ (Request for Quote) process, implementing competitive bids with third‑party providers.
Develop and maintain key strategic relationships with Motor Carriers and Rail Providers.
Manage and maintain accurate carrier rates within the company database.
Collaborate with sales and operations teams to identify needs and drive value‑based pricing strategies that deliver the best customer solutions.
Serve as the organization‑wide centralized resource for carrier best practices, standards, and compliance.
Act as the primary escalation point of contact for partner carrier issues and concerns.
Ensure partner carrier compliance with all company policies and DOT regulations.
Establish and maintain carrier scorecards to measure and track performance against KPIs.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Strong analytical skills with experience in data interpretation and reporting.
Exceptional interpersonal skills to prospect, develop, and grow long‑term carrier relationships.
In‑depth knowledge of carrier tariff pricing and contract negotiation practices.
Comprehensive understanding of domestic transportation and supply chain operations.
Knowledge of DOT regulations and carrier compliance requirements.
Proven ability to influence decision‑makers and drive outcomes.
Development and accountability of organizational KPIs.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
3–5+ years of prior carrier procurement or carrier relations experience.
Domestic 3PL experience required (Full Truckload, Dry Van & Flatbed).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong negotiation skills with demonstrated results.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel.
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Self‑motivated, business‑minded team player with an entrepreneurial mindset.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
Resilient, dedicated professional who thrives in a fast‑paced environment.
Availability to be accessible to clients and carriers outside of standard business hours as needed.
