Deep South Today

is seeking a motivated and dynamic

contract sales associate

focused on selling sponsorships and advertising to local businesses, corporations, higher education institutions and other organizations in Louisiana and Mississippi.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prospect, develop and maintain strong relationships with organizations who want to reach the Deep South Today’s network of dynamic, differentiated audiences through advertising and sponsorships Sell advertising and sponsorship opportunities that align with Deep South Today’s mission and values Craft compelling sales proposals and presentations tailored to the specific needs of clients Collaborate with editorial, events and marketing teams to identify and create new revenue opportunities

Relationship Management & Fulfillment Coordinate with internal teams to ensure seamless delivery of advertising and sponsorship commitments Track, analyze and report on sales performance to optimize future efforts and meet targets Maintain accurate records of client interactions and community outreach in our CRM Serve as a visible and active ambassador for Deep South Today and its newsrooms

Requirements Mission Alignment: A passion for local journalism and its role in promoting democracy and transparency Communication: Excellent interpersonal and professional-level written and verbal communication skills Autonomy: Capable of working independently with minimal direction and as part of a collaborative team Organization: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines Adaptability: Motivated self-starter who is open to new ideas and thrives in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications Previous experience in media sales is preferred Proficiency with tools like Google Workspace, Monday.com, Salesforce or other CRM platforms is a plus Deep familiarity with the New Orleans and/or Mississippi business landscape and community stakeholders Ability to effectively present information to executives and business leaders Location: Remote/Hybrid Compensation: $4,000 per month plus commission starting at 15%
