Where: Episcopal School of Nashville What: Seasonal/Summer PositionWhen: MondayThursday 8:00 AM-4:00 PM, and Friday 8:00 AM-12:00 PM from June 8-July 23, 2026; required training Jun 5, 2026Pay: $22-25 per hour (commensurate with experience)Job Description OverviewEpiscopal School of Nashville is seeking an experienced, energetic, and organized Assistant Camp Director to support our weekday summer programming at our diverse, urban, and independent school located in East Nashville.This leadership role is ideal for experienced educators or youth program leaders who are ready to take on additional responsibility in staff supervision, camper support, parent communication, and daily camp operations. The Assistant Director serves as both a positive role model for campers and a key member of the camp leadership team, working closely with the Camp Director to ensure a safe, structured, and engaging camp experience.All camp programming is pre-planned and provided by ESN; the Assistant Director helps deliver excellence in execution and overall camper experience.ResponsibilitiesSupervise small groups of campers ranging from ages 4-10 throughout the camp dayLead pre-planned games, crafts, science experiments, and activities in small groupsAssist with daily set-up and break-down of camp stations as neededSupport safe indoor and outdoor play, including recessAssist with snacks, lunch, rest time, and transitionsModel respectful, responsible, and positive behavior aligned with ESNs educational philosophy in order to be a positive role modelMaintain a safe and inclusive environment for all campers and staffSupervise Before and After Care program (8:30-9:00 AM and 3:00-4:00 PM, daily)Provide supervision, mentorship, and coaching to camp counselors, as neededManage and support behavioral escalations and appropriate parent follow-up, as neededRespond to parent inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner, as neededAssist counselors by reviewing and approving weekly last-day-of-camp parent communicationsAdminister basic first aid and oversee use of approved over-the-counter and prescribed medications in accordance with ESN policies and parent/guardian authorizationFacilitate morning counselors check-ins and staff meetings with Camp Director as neededQualificationsPrior experience in education, early childhood care, summer camps, youth programming, or related leadership roles requiredExperience supervising, mentoring, or coaching peers preferredStrong communications, organization, and problem-solving skillsAbility to confidently manage group dynamics and behavioral challengesReliable, punctual, and professionalRequirementsBackground checkCPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain independently (must be certified prior to the start of camp; reimbursement available by ESN upon completion)Commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful environmentWhat ESN ProvidesTraining prior to camp (required)Ongoing collaboration with Camp DirectorA fun, energetic, and engaging workplace environmentCPR training reimbursement
