Planned Parenthood Los Angeles is seeking an experienced
Public Affairs & Brand Communications Coordinator
to work in our Downtown Los Angeles Headquarters. The coordinator will support PPLA’s Public Affairs and Brand Communications Team, which works to build Planned Parenthood’s brand, amplify our message, and advocate for PPLA patients in the halls of power. This position will primarily be responsible for supporting effective communications and grassroots advocacy efforts, in addition to providing administrative support for the department.

Our Ideal Candidate will have the following qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook required.
Experience writing in a professional capacity preferred.
Knowledge of social media best practices preferred.
Advocacy experience preferred.
Minimum 2 years of administrative experience in marketing, public affairs, communications, and/or other related disciplines required. Non-profit or health care setting preferred.
Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as required.
A reliable and flexible means of transportation is required.
Ability and willingness to travel within Los Angeles County.
Reliable means of transportation for onsite and off-site work.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
About the Position:
Abortion patients are cared for at each of our health centers, and in part through the administrative, support, and other non-clinical services provided at all PPLA locations, and by all PPLA employees. Supporting these critical services is an essential job duty, and a fundamental responsibility of all employees and contractors.
Support the management of social media channels: draft content, monitor comments, and ensure compliance with relevant agency policies.
Draft internal (staff-facing) communications, including drafting weekly all-staff messages.
Support grassroots advocacy efforts, including but not limited to activists’ recruitment, training, and engagement; visibility at events; hosting phone banks and other grassroots lobbying actions; and engagement with campus activist groups.
Support annual Capitol Day planning efforts, including making travel arrangements, scheduling lobby visits, and training attendees.
Partner with development and public affairs staff to maintain accuracy of supporter database.
Update agency fact sheets regularly to reflect latest data and information. Develop informational packets for community partners, elected officials, and members of the press.
Assist with departmental administration, including record keeping, database management, and invoice processing.
Provide support to the Chief Communications Officer, as needed.
Comply with PPLA’s Standards of Conduct and maintain the highest level of professional and ethical standards to act in compliance with both the letter and spirit of all applicable laws and regulations.
