Project Director - Mining, Metals, & Fertilizers

We are seeking a Project Director to lead growth and delivery in our Mining, Metals & Fertilizers segment. This role combines regional business development with project execution leadership, managing client relationships and complex projects across the Intermountain West. You'll work with a talented, collaborative team focused on converting critical resources into metals and mineralswhile advancing renewable energy and sustainability initiatives. What You'll Do Build and grow client relationships in Mining, Metals, Fertilizers, and Chemicals as primary focus. Will also support across the total Fuel and Natural Resources business sector for other clients and opportunities as well. Identify opportunities, win work, and lead the execution of the projects. Act as Project Director, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and profitability. Mentor Project Managers and collaborate with Client Account Managers. Drive strategic growth aligned with Black & Veatch's Strategy. You will manage bottom-line results across a portfolio of projects leveraging Black & Veatch's multidisciplinary solutions:

Key Responsibilities Partner with F&NR Segment Leaders to develop and execute strategic plans aligned with Strategy and business goals. Continue to build Black & Veatch's presence in the Mining & Natural Resources markets, anticipate trends, and maintain competitive advantage. Drive business capture: meet with clients, contractors, vendors, and partners to shape strategy, pursue new business, negotiate contracts, and review project status. Support strategic alliances and growth initiatives; oversee opportunities for new/repeat business and finalize key contract negotiations with client executives and project managers/directors. Manage multiple clients and be accountable for expanded new business objectives. Actively promote a safety-first culture across all project sites and teams. Direct complex EPC/EPCM and services projects requiring global resources, multiple partners, and/or multiple PMs. Own day-to-day successful execution across performance, financial metrics, planning, schedule, quality, contractual compliance, safety, and client satisfaction. Lead and manage a portfolio of project teams; participate in proposal and project reviews to ensure quality and manage client expectations. Develop project staffing plans, resource assignments, and execution methodologies; ensure compliance with standards and procedures. Influence and manage budgets, including Project Gross Margin (PGM), revenue, and overhead; may include capital or corporate services budgets. Negotiate, assess, and mitigate contractual risk across projects and subcontractors; maintain strategic alliances where appropriate. Acts as a seller/doer Project Director, leading and managing project teams (composition varies by project). Serves as a culture leader, exemplifying company values and inspiring teams with collaboration, integrity, respect, and positive intent. Preferred Qualifications 15+ years' experience, Mining project exposure, proven success in services and EPC delivery. Demonstrated experience with services work, EPC/EPCM projects, and complex risk profiles; experience with M&M projects. Deep knowledge of the mining and natural resources market, with existing client relationships in the segment. Bachelor's degree in engineering, Business Management, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience). Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
