
Construction Survey Specialist

SUMMARY:
The Construction Survey Specialist plays a crucial role in executing precise construction layouts and effective grade control at various job sites. Utilizing advanced GPS systems and sophisticated surveying equipment, this position supports essential operations including dirt work, machine control systems, mass grading, utility installation, and overall site development. Collaborating closely with project managers, superintendents, and equipment operators is vital to ensure that design plans are accurately implemented in the field.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operate GPS equipment (base/rover systems), robotic total stations, and survey levels to procure field measurements. Experience with Trimble equipment and software is preferred.
Establish and uphold horizontal and vertical control on active construction projects.
Verify benchmarks and control points throughout the duration of the project.
Perform construction layouts for grading, pads, slopes, and structures.
Conduct grade checks for excavations, embankments, subgrades, and finished surfaces.
Support and troubleshoot GPS machine control systems for dozers, excavators, and motor graders.
Upload and verify 3D models and design surfaces for field equipment.
Conduct as-built surveys for the final grade of completed work.
Coordinate survey activities with team members to maintain production efficiency.
Maintain and calibrate survey equipment to ensure operational accuracy.
Research innovative surveying and mapping methods.
Ensure adherence to project specifications, tolerances, and safety standards.
BASIC FUNCTIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Strong understanding of construction staking, grade control, and earthwork principles.
Ability to read and interpret civil construction plans, grading plans, and cross-sections.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Proficient in MS Office applications.
Able to work both in teams and independently in outdoor settings.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and precision.
Physically capable of lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally.
