Job Description 26North is seeking an Associate to join its Direct Lending team in New York. The platform is focused on middle market senior debt financings. The Direct Lending team has deployed over $3.0 billion across more than 50 portfolio companies, and has more than $8 billion raised across a range of vehicles including BDCs, CLOs, SMAs, and rated notes.
This role is designed for a high-performing investment professional seeking significant responsibility and accelerated development within a scaled, institutional direct lending platform. The Associate will be fully integrated into the investment process, with meaningful exposure to underwriting, execution, investment committee discussions, and portfolio management from day one.
The Associate will work closely with senior investment professionals in a lean team environment and will be expected to take ownership of key workstreams across the deal lifecycle. The role offers direct interaction with senior leadership, investment committees, financial sponsors, and management teams, as well as the opportunity to contribute to the continued build-out of the firm’s private credit platform.
Responsibilities
Evaluate, structure, and execute new investment opportunities across a range of industries
Conduct comprehensive industry, business, and financial diligence, synthesizing key risks and drivers of performance
Develop and articulate differentiated investment views grounded in rigorous credit analysis
Investment Committee & Deal Process
Prepare investment memoranda, presentations, and supporting analyses for internal review and investment committee discussions
Actively participate in investment committee processes
Support transaction execution, including coordination with internal teams, external advisors, and counterparties
Monitor portfolio investments on an ongoing basis, including financial performance, covenant compliance, and key risk indicators
Conduct detailed portfolio analysis and provide updates to senior team members and investment committees
Support portfolio management initiatives, including amendments, refinancings, and follow-on investments
Platform Development & Team Contribution
Contribute to the continued development of the direct lending platform, including investment processes, systems, and infrastructure
Collaborate with teams across investment, capital formation, and operations to support platform growth
Qualifications Experience
2-4 years of relevant experience in investment banking, direct lending, private credit, or related credit-focused roles
Exceptional financial modeling and analytical capabilities, with experience building and interpreting detailed operating and credit models
Ability to synthesize complex information and develop clear, well-supported investment recommendations
Strong communication skills, including the ability to present analyses
Demonstrated ability to operate with a high degree of ownership and accountability in a fast-paced environment
Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple workstreams
Intellectually curious and driven
Foundational experience and interest in leveraging AI tools to improve productivity

The base salary for this position is expected to be between $125,000.00 and $150,000.00. The base salary offered to the chosen candidate will be commensurate with a candidate’s relevant experience and other qualifications for the position, as determined by the Company in its sole discretion.
