
Senior Technology Lead - AWS, Editorial Platforms

Role Summary
The Senior Technology Lead is a hands‑on engineering lead responsible for designing, building, and guiding the implementation of cloud‑native, AI‑first solutions for editorial and digital publishing platforms. This is a hands‑on role that leads by example—actively contributing to architecture, code, quality testing, and technical decision‑making—while mentoring engineers and ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and production‑ready on AWS and other platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Lead hands‑on design and implementation of AWS‑based solutions for editorial and AI‑enabled platforms.
Act as the technical lead for engineering teams, owning architecture, code quality, and delivery standards.
Define and implement cloud‑native patterns (microservices, EKS/ECS, serverless, API‑first design).
Design and integrate AI‑driven capabilities such as content intelligence, automation, personalization, and GenAI use cases.
Collaborate closely with product, data, DevOps, and CloudOps teams to deliver operable and scalable solutions.
Ensure systems meet security, performance, reliability, and cost‑optimization requirements.
Drive adoption of DevOps, IaC, and CI/CD practices across teams.
Perform technical reviews, troubleshoot complex issues, and mentor engineers through hands‑on guidance.
Required Qualifications
10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, cloud engineering, or technical lead roles.
Strong hands‑on AWS experience (EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, Lambda, EKS/ECS, IAM).
Proven experience building cloud‑native applications using containers, serverless, and APIs.
Working knowledge of enterprise architecture principles (TOGAF or similar), applied pragmatically.
Exposure to AI/ML or GenAI integrations, including consuming managed AI services or models.
Experience with IaC and DevOps practices (Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions).
Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with editorial or content‑driven platforms (publishing workflows, metadata, XML/HTML, DOI/indexing).
AWS Solutions Architect or Developer certification.
Experience with RAG, vector databases, and intelligent workflows.
This role is based in our Washington, DC office and a reasonable rate of compensation for this position is between $150,000-$160,000 per year. ACS employees work a hybrid schedule, consisting of working onsite two days per work week, as decided by functional area. The balance of the week is open to working remotely, though employees are always welcome onsite each day if they choose.
