
Actuarial Product Specialist

Joining our Annuity Pricing and Structured Solutions Team, you will be essential in pricing, developing, and supporting both existing and new annuity products. This role is ideal for a curious, technically skilled, and analytically inclined individual who excels at designing sophisticated solutions through hands‑on modeling and engaging in both regular and exploratory product pricing. Collaboration is key, as you will work with various departments including product development, valuation, finance, hedging, reinsurance, IT, legal, and corporate actuarial.
You are: An actuary passionate about ALM modeling and economic analysis/risk management with strong communication skills for diverse audiences. You can effectively apply actuarial principles, logic, programming, and business acumen to solve complex challenges.
You will:
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support pricing strategy and Net Business Value (NBV) reporting for current and future annuity products.
Conduct thorough actuarial analysis and modeling to ensure precise pricing and reporting.
Aid in the development and validation of actuarial models, adhering to company and regulatory model governance standards.
Lead or contribute to projects associated with new product development and enhancements to current annuity models.
Work closely with senior leadership to align pricing strategies with overarching business goals.
Perform ad hoc analysis and provide actuarial support to various teams.
Communicate your findings effectively to senior leaders through well‑structured spreadsheets, presentations, memos, and emails.
You have:
A recent FSA designation from the Society of Actuaries.
5+ years of relevant insurance experience, particularly in product pricing, Economic Capital, or Cash Flow Testing modeling and reporting.
Experience with asset and/or liability modeling in GGY AXIS.
Knowledge of financial derivatives and hedging is advantageous.
Familiarity with Python and VBA is a plus.
Outstanding analytical, problem‑solving, and communication abilities.
Understanding of individual or group annuity products such as Income annuity, MYGA, Registered Index Linked Annuities, Fixed Index Annuities, or group in‑plan annuity solutions is a bonus.
Capability to work independently while leading multiple projects within a collaborative team setting.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Reporting Relationships: This position reports to the Head of Annuity Pricing, who then reports to the Head of Annuities.
Location: This is a hybrid role, requiring 3 days in a Guardian office located in Hudson Yards, NYC or Holmdel, NJ, and 2 days working from home.
Salary Range: $152,290.00 – $250,195.00. This range represents a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary work location. Final salary will be determined based on the candidate's education, experience, knowledge, and abilities. This role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
