We have a job opening for the position of Summer Student Business Administration Intern – Group Sales with BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina.

The Business Administration Intern – Group Sales will support operational excellence, sales‑process optimisation, and data‑driven decision‑making across Group Sales and ICHRA programs. This intern will partner cross‑functionally with Sales, Marketing, Operations and Line of Business (LOB) stakeholders to document processes, improve reporting, automate workflows and curate training content for diverse audiences.

This role is ideal for a student interested in sales operations, business analytics, healthcare administration or process improvement who is seeking hands‑on experience within a collaborative environment.

Location:

1401 Percival Rd, Columbia, SC 29229 – a full‑time internship (40 hrs/week) Monday‑Friday with a flexible schedule, working in an office environment.

What You’ll Do

Carry out entry‑level tasks and learn professional‑level tasks relating to area operations. May assist with the implementation of various activities and programmes for assigned business units.

Participate in department training designed to acquire applicable knowledge and skills in your area of study. Complete tasks that help you learn departmental procedures and apply industry best practices. Communicate with other areas of the company and conduct research and analysis of various reports (monthly, quarterly, annually).

Perform tasks that help you learn the business area and provide an overall view of company operations. Assist other staff members with everyday tasks to gain an understanding of business operations and workflow.

Complete other assigned area‑related tasks and identify areas for improvement, communicating them to management.

To Qualify For This Position, You’ll Need The Following

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Minimum of 12 semester hours earned in the field(s) specified by the hiring area and currently enrolled in college. You must be working towards obtaining a 4‑year degree in the specified field(s). Please upload a copy of your unofficial transcripts with your resume.

No previous work experience required.

Strong oral and written communication skills; strong organisational skills and attention to detail; analytical or critical thinking skills; ability to handle confidential or sensitive information discreetly; good planning and multi‑tasking skills; strong listening skills and the ability to follow directions and ask questions to ensure a productive internship.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

We Prefer That You Have The Following

Experience in technical writing and creating clear, user‑friendly documentation using Microsoft Word.

Exposure to process mapping and translating workflows into documented procedures.

Strong marketing and communications skills, including tailoring content for different audiences.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including organising, analysing and reporting on data; working knowledge of data analytics and data visualisation concepts.

Exposure to Power BI and/or Tableau (preferred).

Experience using Microsoft SharePoint for document management, collaboration or reporting.

General familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

At least one year of general work experience, including internships, part‑time roles or relevant academic project work.
