Hours: Full Time
A High-Impact Role with a Confidential, Well-Established Engineering Firm
We are partnering closely with a highly respected, multi-disciplinary engineering firm in the Milwaukee area on a priority, retained search for a Senior Mechanical Engineer. This is not a resume-blast opening—this is a strategic, high-visibility hire where the right individual will play a key role in shaping the future of the mechanical team.
About the Company:
Our client is a 40+ year established consulting engineering firm with a strong reputation across the Midwest and growing national presence.
Mechanical (HVAC), Electrical, Plumbing (MEP)
Structural & Civil Engineering
Landscape Architecture & Lighting Design
Project Portfolio:
Higher Education & K-12
Industrial & Manufacturing
Government & Municipal
Multifamily & Hospitality
Specialty large-scale projects (including nationally recognized developments)
This is an environment where engineers gain exposure to a wide variety of systems and projects, not just repetitive work.
Why This Opportunity Stands Out:
Immediate impact on team direction
Direct visibility to executive leadership
Opportunity to mentor and influence junior staff
Clear runway toward future leadership opportunities
If you’ve ever felt “stuck” behind layers of leadership, this is a chance to step forward.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Design HVAC systems across a variety of building types, including:
Chilled water, hot water, hydronic systems
VAV, rooftop, VRF, geothermal systems
Lead projects from concept through construction
Manage multiple projects across different phases
Collaborate closely with architects and other engineering disciplines
Participate in client meetings and project discussions
Mentor junior engineers and support team development
Conduct site visits and field verification
What We’re Looking For
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
PE License (or ability to obtain in Wisconsin)
~8–15+ years of HVAC design experience
Background in consulting engineering/design (buildings-focused)
Technical Skills:
Experience designing across multiple HVAC system types (not just one niche)
Proficiency with Revit and/or AutoCAD
Experience with load calculation tools (Trace 700 or similar)
Knowledge of relevant building codes (ASHRAE, IECC, etc.)
Ideal Candidate:
Has worked on diverse project types
Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously
Strong communicator (client-facing experience preferred)
Interested in mentoring and contributing to team growth
What This Role Is NOT:
Not a siloed, heads-down design-only position
Not repetitive, single-system work
Not a large corporate environment where you get lost
This role is best suited for someone who wants ownership, variety, and influence
What Success Looks Like:
Lead multiple projects independently
Become a key technical resource for the team
Mentor junior engineers
Help strengthen and grow the mechanical group
Be viewed as a go-to leader internally
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive base salary (aligned with experience and market)
Annual bonus + discretionary performance incentives
Comprehensive benefits package
Relocation assistance available (if applicable)
Work Environment
Primarily onsite in the Milwaukee area
Flexible scheduling when needed
Collaborative, team-oriented culture
Occasional local/regional travel for site visits
Why This Search Is Unique:
