Manager, Strategic Sales Communication
Grubhub, Chicago, IL, United States
About Grubhub
At Grubhub, we champion restaurants from coast to coast. Restaurants sit at the heart of communities. It’s our mission to strengthen their roots, deepen their connections, and increase the positive impact they have on people and society.
Grubhub, part of Wonder, delivers the best local, authentic cuisine right to diners’ doors—and new customers and billions in revenue to local businesses. Featuring over 375,000 merchants in over 4,000 cities nationwide, our innovative technology, user-friendly platforms, and streamlined delivery capabilities have made us an industry leader in the world of online food ordering.
Since we opened our doors in 2004, Grubhub has been opening doors all across the country. Bakery doors in Hyde Park, jibarito joint doors in Queens, and doors of opportunity all across the country. Join our team and help us open more.
About The Opportunity We are looking for a high-energy, creative, and data-driven marketer to bridge the gap between marketing and daily sales execution to drive a strategic plan for the sales team. You will have the budget and creative freedom to deploy direct mail, high-end gifting, and automated digital campaigns that ensure our brand is impossible to ignore.
The Impact You Will Make
Marketing Communications: Understand all segments of the Merchant Network business and how to effectively target different audiences based on business need
Campaign Execution: Work with senior leadership to understand strategic projects and delivery methods to take quick action on business requests while being able to pivot quickly when plans change
Omni-Channel Playbooks: Create a 360 playbook on how to address prospects and existing customers through different channels including Direct Mail → Email → Call Task. You will work with Ops to ensure reps have pre-loaded tasks in SFDC to take quick action.
Data Enrichment: Take ownership of our lead database. You will bridge the gap between having more targets than available contact information by utilizing tools and scrapers to ensure our reps are calling the right people.
Winback & Nurture: Own the strategy for Quality Merchant winback campaigns, targeting high-volume accounts that have attrited or gone dark.
Targeted Nurturing: Identify non-performing or "cold" markets and design nurturing campaigns. Your goal is to warm up targets so reps spend their time closing, not just prospecting in inefficient territories.
Real-World Toolkits: Move beyond generic corporate one-sheeters. You will live in the sales world to create collateral that actually solves rep pain points and speaks the language of our merchants.
Acquisition Calendar: Build and maintain the master acquisition calendar, aligning major marketing pushes with seasonal and industry moments.
Engage-on-Behalf Strategy: Automate email cadences that appear to come directly from the rep to schedule activations or drive POS steps, ensuring no lead dies from lack of follow-up.
Full-Funnel Visibility: Implement and manage tools to track clicks, opens, and website visits. You will be responsible for re-targeting strategies for inbound leads that don't sign on the first pass.
Tactical Gifting & Direct Mail: Manage a dedicated budget to design and ship creative direct mail/gifting campaigns (e.g., themed items like football-related teasers or March Madness "blitz" kits) to our top sales targets.
What You Bring to the Table
Background: 5+ years in Marketing, specifically with a heavy focus on Graphic Design and Direct Response. You should be able to design a campaign and the assets that go with it.
Tech Stack: Expert-level knowledge of Salesforce (SFDC) and Marketing Automation tools
The "Scout" Mentality: You are someone who is constantly looking for new tools, better data, and more creative ways to get a prospect’s attention.
Budget Management: Experience managing a physical goods budget (shipping, sourcing, and logistics for direct mail).
Chicago Base Salary: $115,000 - $122,000.
Our hybrid model requires 3 days a week in the office. That said, many team members choose to come in more often to take advantage of in-person collaboration and connection. You're welcome—and encouraged—to be in the office up to 5 days a week if it works for you.
Wonder uses geographic-specific salary structures, which means the salary offered may vary depending on where the job is located. The final salary offer will take into account various factors, such as the candidate's skills, education, training, credentials, and experience.
Benefits We offer a competitive salary package including equity and 401K. Additionally, we provide multiple medical, dental, and vision plans to meet all of our employees' needs as well as many benefits and perks that are not listed.
A Final Note At Wonder, we build the best teams by hiring with an objective lens — evaluating people for their potential while championing diversity, equity, and inclusion. We do not discriminate based on race, color, religion, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, age, military service eligibility, veteran status, marital status, disability, or any other protected class.
