Job Summary The Product Portfolio Leader is responsible for developing and executing the strategic vision for the soybean product portfolio. This role ensures alignment with market needs, company objectives, and profitability targets. The leader will manage the lifecycle of products from concept to commercialization, driving innovation, differentiation, and value creation for growers.
Duties/Responsibilities
Define and implement portfolio strategy for soybeans in the US business, ensuring alignment to business goals, customer needs, and market trends across GDM’s footprint.
Evaluate new soybean traits and genetic advancements for inclusion in the portfolio and drive adoption of advanced breeding technologies, digital tools, and sustainability practices through portfolio strategy. Prioritize investments across traits, germplasm, and technologies to maximize ROI.
Establish performance metrics and regularly evaluate portfolio health, using data-driven insights to guide decision making and prioritization of continuous improvements.
Develop, evaluate, and implement standardized operating procedures (SOPs) that improve soybean portfolio health by increasing consistency in decision-making, accelerating stage‑gate processes, reducing inefficiencies across functions, and ensuring clear governance for product advancement, commercialization, and retirement decisions.
Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, procurement, marketing teams, and other groups to ensure product availability, cost efficiency, and scalability.
Ensure strong product lifecycle management, from Y+2 precommercial testing through commercial retirement, including SOPs for parent seed planning, launch readiness, and phase‑out tactics.
Develop and manage portfolio budgets, forecasts, and profitability targets, with a focus on ensuring cost optimization and value delivery across the soybean portfolio.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or higher in agricultural research, agricultural business, agronomy, or related field required; Master’s level or other advanced degree preferred.
8+ years of experience in agricultural research, agricultural business, agronomy, or related field.
In-field experience in soybean research, production, or commercial agronomy preferred.
Maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR), with the ability to pass company driving requirements and remain eligible to operate a company vehicle in accordance with GDM company policies.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
