Brief Summary of Job Duties Reporting to the UCSB Arts & Lectures Marketing Manager, the Marketing Specialist performs marketing and event support for Arts & Lectures. Responsibilities include general marketing, graphic design, logistical planning, event staffing, multi‑channel marketing, content creation and distribution, and analysis of marketing campaigns. The role also handles credentials, archives, and provides direct support to the Marketing team.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience and training.

1–3 years of experience in video editing, image editing, graphic design, copywriting/editing, email marketing, social media, and CRM databases; proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro.

Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends.

Basic analytical and research skills with aptitude for growth.

Excellent professional writing and communication skills.

Ability to work under multiple deadlines and handle competing priorities.

Highly developed organizational and information‑management skills.

Job Functions & Percentages of Time 50% Marketing Administrative Support & Analysis

Track metrics, analyze market trends, and develop marketing strategies.

Create database queries, manage records, and develop targeted campaigns.

Form partnerships and create promotional opportunities with campus and community organizations.

Track and report ROI of campaigns; compile reports from Tessitura, Google Analytics, Wordfly, and social media.

Maintain calendars for marketing projects and initiatives.

Draft correspondence and provide administrative support to senior staff.

Analyze expenses and ensure accurate record‑keeping.

Extract ticketing and marketing details from artist contracts.

Attend events, provide event support, and plan ancillary events.

Maintain distribution lists for partners, vendors, and press.

Distribute promotional materials and oversee student or contractor distribution.

Review and update website, mobile app, and other communication platforms.

20% Content Creation & Graphic Design

Apply A&L’s style guide, proof materials, and support brand management.

Adapt senior designer’s aesthetics to create digital and print collateral.

Use Adobe Creative Suite proficiently.

Research and format images for production, ensuring proper credits.

Create and adapt content for social media, e‑marketing campaigns, and radio ads.

Coordinate event photography and videography.

15% Digital Media Strategy

Support strategy and implementation of digital marketing campaigns.

Coordinate social media and e‑marketing schedules.

Analyze and report on digital campaign ROI and recommend improvements.

15% Program Tracking & Archiving

Compile, format, and edit program book content for over 100 events annually.

Coordinate with Marketing and Programming Managers to ensure marketing materials meet contractual requirements.

Proofread all marketing materials for accuracy.

Track program ad sales and oversee invoicing.

Organize and maintain marketing, media, and publicity archives.
