
Grant Compliance Director

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Grant Compliance Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of a Tribe's grant management process, ensuring that all funded programs adhere to the terms and conditions of each grant, including legal and regulatory requirements, by monitoring expenditures, reviewing reporting, and maintaining compliance with donor guidelines throughout the grant lifecycle; they often work closely with program staff, finance teams, and leadership to identify potential compliance risks and implement necessary corrective actions.
JOB DESCRIPTION ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Pre-award grant management
Identifying potential grant funding opportunities from various sources (federal, state, private foundations)
Reviewing grant guidelines and eligibility criteria
Assisting with the development and submission of competitive grant proposals
Collaborating with program staff to ensure project alignment with grant requirements
Post-award grant management
Monitoring grant expenditures to ensure compliance with budget limitations
Reviewing and approving grant-related invoices and expense reports
Tracking grant progress and key performance indicators
Preparing accurate and timely grant reports for funders
Compliance oversight
Developing and maintaining comprehensive grant compliance policies and procedures
Conducting regular compliance reviews and audits of grant-funded programs
Identifying and mitigating potential compliance risks
Addressing non-compliance issues promptly and effectively
Internal collaboration
Providing training and technical assistance to staff on grant compliance requirements
Working with the finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting on grants
Collaborating with program directors to monitor project implementation and outcomes
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS All positions require a minimum of a criminal background check to a maximum of an adjudicated P.L. 101-630 character and criminal background check.
Required skills and qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in business, business administration, accounting or a related field is required.
Deep understanding of federal and state grant regulations, including OMB Uniform Guidance
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address compliance issues
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey complex compliance information
Proficiency in grant management software and data analysis tools
Experience in project management and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
Proven ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
