This position is in the Cyber Intelligence & Technical Operations Bureau. The role independently researches, reviews, analyzes and evaluates raw information and finished intelligence to create cyber‑focused intelligence products and determine their value and meaning in furtherance of criminal investigations. Investigative targets may include individuals, organized groups, officials and/or business enterprises, along with state, county, and municipal government agencies, and related entities. Duties & Responsibilities
Research, review, analyze, and evaluate pertinent data in computer and other technology crime investigations and provide management with recommendations based on the analysis; Research current and anticipated future technology advances to assess potential negative or positive impacts on the investigation of technology crimes; Apply elements of the Intelligence cycle during the collection, review, evaluation, and analysis of current investigative and intelligence data, current events, publications, and online postings related to criminals and criminal activity, crime trends, and the impact of specific crimes within the area, including classified systems; Provide assistance to citizens regarding questions or concerns about computer crimes and to government agencies and local law enforcement regarding investigative techniques and information needed to initiate a computer crime investigation; Provide additional investigative leads discovered as a result of analysis and suggest informal guidance based on an in‑depth knowledge of the analyzed evidence; Assist in drafting subpoenas to ensure that pertinent records are identified whether in printed or electronic form; accompany Special Agents on search and seizures after premises are secured; Research and recommend acquisition of hardware and software assets for use in technology‑related investigations; Interview members of the public – victims, witnesses, and potential targets – with or without supervision to determine crime details and investigative leads, representing FDLE in a confident, trustworthy, and professional manner; Extract pertinent entries from examined records and prepare concise summaries of findings and necessary documents in various formats, including worksheets, schedules, memoranda, investigative reports, charts, or other presentation formats; and Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
* Experience in criminal intelligence, military intelligence, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis, or a law‑enforcement agency (four years of experience for Analyst I, five years for Analyst II, seven years for Senior Analyst I, nine years for Senior Analyst II). A bachelor’s degree substitutes for four years of experience; a master’s degree or professional certificate substitutes for one year of experience; completion of a 720‑hour vocational/technical program substitutes for one year; Knowledge, skills, and abilities: create documents and spreadsheets; fundamental computer operations and social media platforms; current technology trends; clear and factual writing; oral communication with employees of agencies, businesses, courts; work planning, organization, and coordination; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); deductive reasoning; effective working relationships.
