About The Role The Sr. Manager, Sales Commissions Operations is a key leadership role responsible for building, scaling, and leading a newly established Sales Commissions Operations function. This role oversees the full operational lifecycle of monthly and quarterly commissions calculations, data validation, issue resolution, payout accuracy, and coordination across multiple teams including Sales, Finance, HR, Payroll, Legal, and Technology. This leader will define operational processes, establish SLAs and controls, build core operational infrastructure, and stand up a high‑performing team from the ground up. The Sr. Manager will directly lead the commission operations team, ensure data integrity and compliance, and drive continuous improvement, automation, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Stand up and operationalize a new Sales Commissions Operations function including defining workflows, SLAs, SOPs, intake processes, and operational rhythms

Own the end‑to‑end commissions calculation lifecycle across monthly and quarterly payout cycles, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, transparency, and compliance

Manage data intake, validations, processing, adjustments, exception handling, and payout preparation

Establish internal controls and ensure compliance with audit and SOX requirements

Create and maintain documentation including process maps, runbooks, playbooks, and standard operating procedures

Directly manage and develop a new team including the Senior Sales Commissions Plan Analyst, Sales Commissions Analyst, and Sales Commissions Coordinator

Create a strong team culture focused on accuracy, accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement

Set clear performance expectations, KPIs, and developmental pathways for each team member

Oversee capacity planning, workload distribution, training, and professional development initiatives

Lead pre‑processing activities including transaction validation, crediting checks, hierarchy alignment, and quota ingestion

Oversee reconciliation of system‑calculated payouts against inputs and plan rules

Manage exceptions, adjustments, escalations, and approval routing

Ensure rigorous data governance including source‑of‑truth adherence, validation protocols, and data integrity checks

Partner with Systems Administration to support UAT, enhancements, break/fix issues, and platform stability

Lead the resolution of escalations, disputes, and payee inquiries in partnership with Sales Operations, HR, and Payroll

Provide timely cycle status updates, resolution tracking, and communication to cross‑functional partners

Collaborate with Governance & Policy for consistent plan interpretation and policy compliance

Develop communication templates, FAQs, and cycle summaries for statements and process updates

Partner with Sales, Finance/FP&A, HR, Payroll, Legal, RevOps, and Technology to support plan execution, staffing changes, quota updates, and operational requirements

Provide operational feasibility assessment for plan design and policy changes

Support Finance and Leadership with reporting for accruals, forecasts, and cost‑of‑sales modeling

Create and maintain dashboards and reporting for cycle performance, timeliness, dispute trends, accuracy/error rates, SLA adherence, and productivity metrics

Provide operational insights to leadership highlighting risks, root causes, and improvement opportunities

Support Governance & Policy with reporting related to compliance, exceptions, and audits

Identify workflow inefficiencies and implement process redesign, automation, and standardization

Partner with Systems Admin and Technology teams to implement automation for calculations, workflows, reconciliation tools, and dashboards

Drive operational excellence initiatives aimed at scaling the commissions function for future growth and complexity

Requirements

7+ years of experience in Sales Commissions Operations, Revenue Operations, Finance Operations, or equivalent

3+ years people management experience leading analysts, specialists, or operational teams.

Experience standing up or scaling new operational teams, programs, or functions

Deep understanding of commissions processing, crediting, adjustments, exceptions, and dispute workflows

Experience with commissions platforms (Xactly, Varicent, Spiff, CaptivateIQ, Anaplan)

Advanced proficiency in Excel; SQL and BI tools preferred

Strong communication, process design, documentation, and stakeholder management skills

Proven ability to manage large data sets, tight deadlines, and complex escalations

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree required; preferred fields include Business, Finance, Accounting, Analytics, or Operations Management

Experience in high‑growth or transformational environments is preferred

Pay Details The base compensation range for this position is $145,000 – $170,000. This range reflects Acrisure's good faith estimate at the time of this posting. Placement within the range will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, location, and internal equity.

Candidates should be comfortable with an on‑site presence to support collaboration, team leadership, and cross‑functional partnership.
