Job Overview Position: Director, Office of Policy and Program Development (OPPD), State and International Equivalence Staff (SIES)

Reporting to: Assistant Administrator (AA) and Deputy Assistant Administrator (DAA) for OPPD

Location: Federal (Travel Code 1)

Agency: Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)

Major Duties

Manages, directs, supervises, staffs, coordinates, and evaluates equivalence policies and procedures.

Plans, develops, and directs equivalence policy and instructions to staff to ensure that meat, poultry, and egg products imported into the United States are produced under standards equivalent to U.S. food safety standards.

Leads staff in foreign program document reviews.

Develops internal plans and procedures to ensure effectiveness of program goals, for example: incentive awards, selective placement, or performance management.

Coordinates workload to assure optimum review of countries’ and states' inspection systems.

Leads staff in reviews of State Meat and Poultry Inspection programs to ensure the application of inspection procedures and protocols are "at least equal to" the Federal inspection requirements.
