Jobs in this group are typically responsible for managing internal and external communications for UVA Health. They develop and execute strategies for public relations, media outreach, and digital content to enhance visibility and engage with various audiences. These roles manage the university's reputation and relationships with media, community and stakeholders. Responsible for press releases, media inquiry handling, events, crisis management, and ensuring positive representation of UVA.

Will work with other members of the UVA Health public relations team to:

field and respond to media inquiries in a timely manner

respond to calls on the health system's media relations hotline

help identify subject‑matter experts to respond to media inquiries

write press releases/media advisories on grants, awards, events and other topics as assigned

assist with metrics and data reporting

serve as the on‑call Public Information Officer as needed

monitor the news for breaking news events that health system experts may want to discuss

assist with media escorting and coordination of media events

other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements Education: Bachelor's Degree required.

Experience: 2 years related experience.

Licensure: None required.

Physical Demands This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.

The starting base rate for this role is $65,000.00 annually. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
