About the Position Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) for a 13‑week travel assignment in Winfield, Kansas. Required Qualifications
Valid Physical Therapy Assistant license in compliance with state regulations
Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
Preferred Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited program in physical therapy
Physical Therapy Assistant experience, but new graduates are welcome to apply
Other certifications or licenses may be required for this position
Summary The PTA works under the supervision of a Physical Therapist to help implement treatment plans that improve patients’ mobility, reduce pain, and enhance functional independence. PTAs provide hands‑on assistance with therapeutic exercises, modalities, and activities of daily living across various clinical settings. They document patient progress, educate patients on home exercise programs, and collaborate with the healthcare team to support optimal recovery and overall quality of life.
Essential Work Functions
Set up therapy equipment and treatment areas, ensuring devices and supplies are calibrated, clean, and ready
Guide patients through prescribed exercises and activities to improve mobility, strength, and balance; assist with movements and transfers as needed
Observe patient performance, note changes in function, and report progress or concerns to the supervising PT
Accurately record patient treatment details, progress, and adjustments in the medical record
Instruct patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, assistive device use, and safe mobility techniques
Coordinate care with PTs, OTs, and other healthcare professionals for a comprehensive approach
Maintain a safe environment by following infection control, safety, and regulatory standards while addressing patient comfort
Engage in quality assurance initiatives and professional development to stay current with best practices
Collaborate in discharge planning to ensure smooth transitions and continued progress in community or home settings
Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice
Required Essential Skills
Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication
Excellent English reading, writing, and verbal communication
Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions; PC proficiency
Physical Abilities:
Remain stationary, move about, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, and bend
Interpersonal Skills:
Work effectively with diverse personnel and maintain a professional attitude
Technical/Motor Skills:
Fine manipulation, push/pull, and movement when assisting with procedures and using equipment
Mental Requirements:
Handle frequent contact with the public and customers, meet deadlines under pressure, work under close supervision or independently as required
Sensory:
Visual acuity and effective communication
