Salary Range
$71,745.00 – $115,063.00 Annually
Hiring Salary Range: $71,745.00 – $93,403.00 Annually
Job Summary
A Public Relations Officer administers the public relations program of a large agency and performs a variety of public information duties. Work of this class may involve supervising office support personnel. Employees work a conventional workweek in an office setting. Working conditions are normal and the job requires minimal physical exertion.
Minimum Qualifications
On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must:
• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Three years of experience performing public information or public relations work.
• If not meeting the above, an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of the principles and techniques of public information and relations.
Knowledge of the preparation of material for release to the media (press, radio and television).
Knowledge of graphic arts, materials and applications.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with media, civic, social and community organizations, government agencies and the general public.
Ability to plan and organize a promotional campaign.

Background Check
Eligible candidates under final consideration for positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint. The check must be successfully completed.
Probation
All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory six‑month probation.
Eligibility
Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The Director of Human Resources has final authority on acceptable minimum qualifications.
Education Accreditation
Applicants’ education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Credentials earned outside the U.S. must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency. Evaluation agencies include www.naces.org.

The training and experience of each candidate will be evaluated for appropriateness and quantity. It is essential that you provide complete and accurate information on your application.
