Starfish Project is looking for a Communications Specialist to support the sales growth of our impactful and international social enterprise. The Communications Specialist will support sales, marketing, and customer service initiatives, including social media, e‑mail marketing, and the execution of paid advertising, as well as overseeing customer service channels. Alongside the Marketing Manager and E‑commerce Manager, this role is responsible for supporting the delivery of all customer‑facing communications. The Communications Specialist will promote and positively represent the Starfish Project brand.
Job Location: Goshen, Indiana | Hybrid - Minimum 2 days per week on-site
Working Hours: 40hr/w | Monday to Friday, typically 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. + 1 evening of work per week. | Flexibility with hours needed according to demand.
Contract: Full‑Time, Ongoing

This role has one key objective:
To support the sales and reputational growth of Starfish Project for the purpose of furthering its mission, through outstanding customer relations and engagement.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities Ads Execution Assistance: Assist the E‑commerce Senior Manager with the execution of advertising campaigns to drive brand awareness and sales.
Newsletter Creation: Write and curate content for weekly retail and wholesale newsletters to keep our audience engaged and informed.
Social Media Management: Execute organic social media posting daily using content provided by the Asia‑based marketing teams, and engage with customers in comments and DMs to build community.
Content Copywriting: Create compelling copy for various channels to tell the Starfish Project story and promote our products.
Graphic Design & Signage: Design signage and other graphic assets to support marketing and operational needs.
Customer Service: Lead the customer service team in responding to all customer service queries for all of our online sales channels.
Support the training and equipping of interns and survivors in Asia to take on as much of the US and UK customer service work as possible.
Community Engagement: Facilitate connections from the local community to maintain positive local community engagement in support of the work of Starfish Project.
Order Fulfillment Support: Practically help fulfill orders at the distribution center to fulfill customer demand during the high season (November to December).
Distribution Center Support: In support of the Operations Specialist, maintain an orderly and effective Distribution Center.
Deputize: Deputize for the Operations Specialist in their absence.
Training and Support Available Ongoing one‑on‑one support from a supervisor, including weekly meetings.
Support from the Operations Specialist and other US based team members during busy periods and absences.
Full training on all relevant systems, software, and tools.
Weekly team building and support meetings with the wider international business team.
Weekly meetings with the wider regional team.
Occasional support from an intern.
A loyal team of volunteers at the Goshen Distribution Center and strong existing local, national, and international connections.
Significant technical support and manpower are available through our partnership with ViewRail, a company friendly to Starfish Project where our Distribution Center is located.
Active support from US‑based board members.
Person Specification Required:
Committed to the Vision, Mission, and Values of Starfish Project.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Excellent written and verbal English language communication skills.
Competent with professional email communication, basic IT, and social media direct messaging.
Basic graphic design skills.
Love social media engagement and find joy in getting customers excited about the Starfish Project brand online.
A “can‑do” and positive attitude towards growth, change, and working with others.
Be able to learn to use basic software, such as Google Drive and Shopify.
A hands‑on approach, ability, and willingness to cover for the US Distribution Coordinator in shipping and completing orders when needed.
Ability to work extra hours during key busy periods, especially from November to December.
