JOB TITLE: Photographer/Editor - seasonal LOCATION: Chicago, IL About The Role & Team Univision Chicago's News Department is looking for a seasonal Photographer/Editor to join our team! This position will be responsible for shooting and editing for the station’s newscasts. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: shooting, editing, daily newsgathering, and reporting as well as appearances at community and station events in a fast‑paced, extremely competitive market. About You Our photographers work hand in hand with reporters and producers. They produce and report news stories using non‑linear editing equipment, cameras, phones, GoPro, and related broadcasting equipment and newsroom computer systems. We are looking for a passionate storyteller, willing to work in a deadline‑driven environment. Responsibilities Go to news sites in all types of weather and capture newsworthy events as they happen. Work closely with reporters to produce compelling, significant stories. Editing video for daily news coverage, special projects, and sweep period pieces using Adobe Premiere and other non‑linear editing software. Take in news feeds from news bureaus and various news organizations. Collaborate with anchors, reporters, and producers on video elements of newscasts. Meet daily deadlines in a high‑energy working environment. Cover specialized consumer content, day‑to‑day news stories and long‑term assignments. Maintain assigned photography gear and vehicles and operate in a safe manner. Work well with P2 and XD cameras to shoot interviews and general footage. Establish a good working relationship with newscast producers and co‑anchors to ensure a well‑paced, accurate and informative broadcast. Be a strong and fast writer with solid news judgment as a producer. Attend and participate in off‑site company‑sponsored and community events as assigned by station management. Qualifications Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills (both written and oral). Thorough knowledge of all ENG practices. Experience and knowledge of television news photography and technology. Ability to shoot with P2 and XD cameras and edit under deadline pressure. Capacity to lift and carry broadcast video equipment (approximately 45 pounds) and use keyboard, video editing equipment (linear and non‑linear), video machines, server‑based video editing and playback systems, and other broadcast equipment. Proficient with Adobe CS Suite. Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to drive daily. Personal computer experience, including non‑linear editing equipment. Desired Skills & Experience Experience in broadcast news in Spanish language broadcasting as a reporter or photographer/editor. Ability to work on tight deadlines, independently or with a reporter. Ability to improvise when situation warrants. Familiar with the Chicago area. Problem‑solving skills. Creative with a strong sense of community involvement for unique story ideas. Flexible hours, including weekends and holidays. Multitasking and ability to work well under extreme pressure and communicate effectively. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Eligibility Requirements Must be willing to work from office in Chicago, IL. Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States. Must be a member or join NABET‑CWA. Base hourly pay: $24.57 – $25.43 TelevisaUnivision is an equal opportunity employer.
