Mortgage Servicing Specialist

The Mortgage Servicing Specialist is responsible for the maintenance and servicing of mortgage loans while performing various loan servicing functions. Key job responsibilities include: Ensuring compliance with all Credit Union policies, procedures, and processes. Working with member services and collection departments by performing maintenance on member loans. Performing processing and maintenance functions in collections and general mortgage servicing. Assisting in the processing of servicing documents and accounting, ensuring transactions are within compliance guidelines. Preparing, balancing, processing, and paying all annual, semi-annual, and quarterly tax payments. Running queries and performing regular tax audits, researching legal descriptions and county records to identify possible security instrument corrections needed. Preparing and sending Escrow Analysis and disbursements. Ability to interact with local and county offices and various insurance companies. Processing and preparing documents for loan payoffs, insurance payments and/or claims, etc. Setting up new fixed rate & ARM loans in the mortgage servicing system as necessary, monitoring and notifying customers of adjustments associated with ARM loans, and other structured loan types in a timely manner. Working with loan origination, closing & other lenders to provide payoffs, verification of mortgages, and loan details requested. Processing and responding to escalated & complex loan problems in a friendly manner. Ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Making daily contact by telephone, direct computer access, letters, credit bureaus, etc. Providing assistance in data input, recording information, answering telephones, scanning, and typing letters. Processing and balancing daily deposits to investor accounts. Assisting team with monthly investor reporting & servicing the various activities involved in mortgages. Becoming/being an advocate of the Michigan First culture, supporting diversity, philosophy, and other credit union initiatives. Fostering a positive image of Michigan First via professional representation in all contacts and complying with all of Michigan First's mission and vision goals. Reflecting each of the credit union's "Isms" in daily job performance. Ability to perform functions in an accurate and timely manner. Performing other duties as assigned. Qualifications/requirements include: High school diploma and a minimum of 2 years mortgage servicing experience preferred. Strong knowledge of mortgage servicing functions. Ability to operate in a fast-paced growing environment is essential. Proficiency in FHLMC, CFPB compliance, and Conventional mortgage servicing is ideal. Must be tech savvy and able to work in a paperless environment. Maintain a forward-thinking attitude with the ability to share ideas to assist with the growth of the team. Possess strong interpersonal & communication skills, customer service, & ability to work effectively in a team environment. Consistently maintain professional appearance and attitude. Ability to operate PC and work efficiently in a Windows environment. Capability to communicate effectively and share ideas on how to improve. Who We Are
