
SE Lead Global Guide (Communications)

Global Guide
Global Guides are students who represent Center for Global Engagement (CGE) and help to foster connection and community between CGE and UR students. Global Guides will play an integral role in helping communicate programming and resources intended for international students, study abroad students, and prospective students. Global Guides will work to develop and promote CGE events and social media highlights. The Communications Guide will also have a focus on media and outreach, working on media coverage of events as needed. Hours: 5-10 hours a week, closer to 10 hours preferred Pay Rate: Level 2 Duties: Serve as point person on the Global Guide team in assisting the Associate Director of Global Communications and Events with strategic communications, content creation and promotional activities. Attend CGE events to carry out media coverage (could be up a few times per semester) Staff the Global Engagement front desk, answer phones, and answer visitor inquiries. Make sure the lobby and front desk are orderly and welcoming, including washing visitor coffee cups of visitors using the Illy coffee machine and re-stocking coffee and other related tasks. Assist visitors/ show visitors how to use the Illy coffee machine. Support advisors with student communication and scheduling. Attend and promote CGE events to students, faculty and staff. Answer basic FAQ's for students interested in study abroad, international student programming, or international on-campus programming, or find the relevant advisor to help the student. Support Global Fellow for International Student Engagement in setting up programming and social activities. Assist with office tasks (Excel, making copies, scanning etc.), event and program management as needed. May occasionally give campus tours to special guests of Global Engagement office. Ideal Candidate: We are seeking a student who is passionate about fostering global engagement at University of Richmond and fostering connections with our spider community. Strengths include excellent organizational and communication skills, adeptness engaging with social media and being comfortable with photography, video, and interview skills (student-to-student). Photo editing and graphic design experience preferred, currently studying marketing or communications is a bonus.
