Metropolitan State College of Denver, Denver, CO, United States

School Of Hospitality Affiliate Faculty

The School of Hospitality at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) invites applications for temporary, part-time affiliate faculty teaching positions. Responsibilities include teaching 3+ credit hours in subject areas such as ProStart, Culinary, Introduction to Hotel, and Introduction to Event Management. Faculty will work and interact with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff, demonstrate ability to effectively infuse technology into coursework, and be available for consultation with students. An affiliate faculty member's duties may include teaching assigned classes in person or online, preparing course materials and lesson plans, grading student work, providing students with robust feedback in a timely manner, addressing student questions consistent with university, college/school, and department policies, and providing online or in person academic support to students as needed and appropriate for the teaching assignment. Required qualifications for an adjunct/affiliate faculty member in SOH include completion of a master's degree in the field in which the faculty member is assigned to teach or an associate's degree or higher in a hospitality-related discipline plus professional experience that is current at the time of hire, that has been substantial in terms of duration and level of responsibility, and that clearly links to the field in which the faculty member is expected to teach. Preferred qualifications include nationally recognized certificates and licenses relevant to the field in which the faculty member is assigned to teach. Affiliate faculty are part-time, at-will employees hired to teach on a per credit hour basis for specific classes, usually on a semester-by-semester basis. They are not eligible for benefit coverage under the University's benefit program. All such teaching assignments are dependent on budget and enrollment. Qualified candidates will be expected to teach in person/on campus upon hire. The final salary is based on the number of credit hours assigned at a rate determined by university policy. For more information, please view the pay rates under the School of Hospitality (SoH). Candidates must apply online through MSU Denver's career site. Complete applications will include the following materials: curriculum vitae or resume, cover letter, copies of all unofficial transcripts, and a list of three professional references with contact information. Official transcripts will be required of the candidate selected for hire.
