Public Works Director Public Works Director The City of Santa Fe invites applications for the position of PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR. The new Public Works Director will be appointed by and will report directly to the City Manager. The City Public Works Department has an authorized staff of 387, operating within the following Divisions: Transit, Complete Streets, Parking, Facilities Maintenance, Public Works Administration, and Parks, Trails and Watershed. The Public Works Director is assisted by an Transit Director of Operations and Maintenance, Transit Director of Administration, Complete Streets Division Director, Parking Division Director, Facilities Division Director, Business Operations Manager and the Parks and Open Spaces Division Director. The Position: The City seeks a Public Works Director with exceptional experience performing a variety of professional, administrative, and managerial duties related to planning, organizing, coordinating, controlling, and directing all phases of city-wide public works operations, including contract engineering, airport, parking, transit, streets, storm water, fleet maintenance, capital improvements, traffic engineering, and transportation The Public Works Director and team are involved in every aspect of the City's operations, will work closely with the City's elected officials, and even with State, County and regional officials. The City: Santa Fe operates as a Strong Mayor city. Mayor-elect Michael Garcia will assume office on January 1. The Mayor serves as the City's Chief Executive and also chairs a Governing Body, consisting of the Mayor and 8 City Councilors. He will appoint the City Manager, City Attorney and City Clerk, subject to confirmation by Councilors. The rest of the City's department heads are appointed by the City Manager. The City of Santa Fe is the capital city of New Mexico with a residential population of roughly 90,000, which swells on a daily basis thanks to a strong tourism and business economy. Salary/Compensation: Salary for the position will be established based on qualifications, within the range of $ $145,000 to $165,000.
