Residency Director of the Family Medicine Residency Program
The Residency Director of the Family Medicine Residency Program at MDI Hospital will provide strategic and operational leadership to develop and maintain a high-quality Family Medicine Residency. This role will ensure that all program elements align with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) standards, while fostering an educational environment that addresses the needs of rural communities. The Residency Director will work closely with clinical faculty, MDIH leadership, and community partners to integrate the program with the hospital's mission and enhance training in rural family medicine. Education, Training, or Certifications Required
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) with current board certification in Family Medicine. Current Maine MD license. Member in good standing of the Active Medical Staff. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Experience Required
Minimum of three years in clinical family medicine. Experience in medical education preferred. Demonstrated commitment to rural healthcare and understanding of the unique needs of rural communities. Five years of experience in medicine preferred. Prior experience in education preferred. Skills and Abilities
Demonstrates leadership qualities. Ability to teach and mentor residents. Role models leadership behaviors such as integrity, ethics, trust, and open/honest communication. Ability to meet assigned deadlines. Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a broad range of professionals. Maintains some level of clinical work. Proficiency in electronic office suite programs (e.g., Excel, Word). Proficiency in file management systems (e.g., ACGME ADS, New Innovations, ERAS). Experience with medical education strongly preferred. Cognitive Requirements
Emotional maturity and strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work with distressed or anxious staff, patients, family members, or employees. Basic computer skills. Infection control skills. Knowledge and observance of patient privacy requirements. Physical Demands
Able to perform under stress. May involve business-related travel. Adequate hearing, vision, speech, and manual dexterity. Environment
