General Tax Specialist - Genesco
The General Tax Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of assigned domestic/foreign sales/use tax filings and remittance of tax as well as all reports and remittance payments as necessary; the accurate and timely preparation of escheat property, and timely remittance of payments as necessary; accurate and timely remittances of personal property tax payments. This position handles multiple assignments in a rapidly changing, fast paced environment with frequent direct interaction with internal/external individuals. Job Responsibilities Prepares assigned domestic and foreign sales and use tax returns Responsible for all escheat property compliance per state statues Oversee timely payment processing of domestic/foreign personal property tax filings Responsible for the location maintenance in the Store Database/Determination Software Systems Other duties and projects assigned by the Tax Supervisor Job Requirements High school diploma 2 4 years' relevant tax experience with a large multi-state corporate tax department Knowledge of basic accounting terms Good understanding of tax concepts Strong computer skills to include Word, Excel and software applications Demonstrated time-management and multi-tasking skills coupled with a keen ability to prioritize assignments Strong math skills Strong customer service skills for both internal and external customers Strong ability to read, understand, and interpret complicated documents Strong communication skills to include active listening and the ability to meet the needs of all audiences Excellent organizational skills Must be detail oriented Equal Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
