Senior Portfolio Manager
The Senior Portfolio Manager is responsible for the ongoing assessment and management of the overall health of the Bank's Commercial Lending portfolio, with a primary focus on at risk credits, deteriorating trends, and troubled assets. This role provides forward looking, independent credit risk oversight through monthly individual ACL reserve analysis, Watchlist governance, delinquency credit reviews, and OREO reviews. The Senior Portfolio Manager synthesizes borrower performance, risk migration, and portfolio level trends to identify emerging credit issues and support timely risk mitigation. The position partners closely with Commercial Lending, Credit Risk, Legal, and Finance to coordinate reviews, assist in the management and resolution of troubled loans, and deliver clear, well supported risk assessments to senior management. The role serves as a subject matter expert on portfolio risk, credit deterioration, and problem loan identification. The role also contributes to the development of portfolio management capabilities through coaching, knowledge sharing, and the promotion of consistent credit risk standards. Essential Functions: Monitor the commercial loan portfolio, including but not limited to delinquent loans, matured loans, line of credit renewals, and construction status reporting. Perform monthly individual loan level ACL reserve analysis and document supportable conclusions. Maintain and govern the Commercial Loan Watchlist, including risk rating validation and migration analysis. Coordinate and complete delinquency credit reviews and OREO reviews. Identify emerging credit risk trends, concentrations, and early warning indicators across the commercial portfolio. Assist in the management, monitoring, and resolution strategy of troubled and criticized assets. Provide independent challenge and insight on deteriorating credits, risk ratings, and credit administration practices. Deliver concise, executive level reporting on portfolio risk, trends, and problem assets. Partner with Commercial Lending, Credit Risk, Legal, and Finance to support proactive risk mitigation strategies. Maintain accurate document management records related to commercial lending clients and credit reviews. Leverage productivity and analytical tools, including emerging automation and AI enabled solutions, to enhance efficiency, consistency, and insight in portfolio monitoring, credit analysis, and reporting, while adhering to Bank policies and risk governance standards. Assess adherence to internal credit policies and loan administration procedures and maintain awareness of applicable State and Federal regulations. Provide coaching, guidance, and technical mentorship to Portfolio Managers and Credit staff, promoting consistent risk assessment standards, sound credit judgment, and best practices across the commercial portfolio. Participate in ongoing process improvement and portfolio risk management initiatives. Job Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field required; equivalent experience may be considered. Minimum of 5+ years of commercial underwriting, credit risk, portfolio management, or similar financial analysis experience, with demonstrated exposure to criticized and troubled assets. Strong analytical, decision making, and independent judgment skills, particularly in assessing deteriorating and at risk credits. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365, with strong Excel and Word skills and the ability to analyze, summarize, and present complex financial and credit information clearly. Familiarity with the use of productivity, automation, or AI enabled tools to support financial analysis, reporting, or workflow efficiency; ability to adapt to new technologies. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver concise, well supported credit conclusions to senior management. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet recurring deadlines, and adapt to evolving portfolio risk conditions. The annual salary range for the Senior Portfolio Manager is $80,000 to $120,000 per year.
