Supervises staff involved in providing clinical patient care. Assists in ensuring the quality of patient care delivery in a specific patient care area and serves as a role model for professional nursing practice. Assists with the administration and management of personnel, fiscal, and material resources. May assume full responsibility for the unit in delegated areas and in the absence of the manager. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $221,500 - $241,800 (Annual Rate).
Required Qualifications
3 years previous leadership experience in hospital based Perioperative settingMinimum five (5) years of perioperative clinical experience with Perianesthesia clinical standards and care delivery, systems, external regulations, and internal policiesRecent administrative experience in a Perianesthesia; for example, previous experience as an Assistant Unit Director or Manager in the PACUDemonstrated skills to effectively supervise clinicians and to manage the complex workflow and multiple priorities involved with a patient care unitStrong knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document human resources matters and employee performance; provides input to decision-makers on human resources mattersStrong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and develop and apply effective solutionsExcellent communications and interpersonal skills to foster and promote an environment for effective communication and collaborative decision making across multiple units and disciplinesStrong interpersonal skills for effective information exchange and problem solving with all levels of management and staff, consultants and outside agenciesStrong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to train and mentor subordinates, convey complex clinical and technical information in a clear and concise manner, and prepare and present a variety of reports, documentation, analyses, and project proposalsStrong knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, as well as related legislative, accreditation, licensing and compliance environmentsKnowledge of business software and specialized applications and data management systems used in nursing units or departmentsStrong knowledge of relevant healthcare information technology and patient care workflows and processesBachelor's Degree in Nursing required

Required Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of leadership experience in a hospital-based perioperative setting
- Minimum of five (5) years of perioperative clinical experience, including knowledge of perianesthesia clinical standards, care delivery systems, external regulations, and internal policies
- Recent administrative experience in a perianesthesia setting (e.g., Assistant Unit Director or Manager in PACU)
- Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise clinicians and manage complex workflows and multiple priorities within a patient care unit
- Strong knowledge of human resources management practices, including training, monitoring, evaluation, and documentation of employee performance, and providing input on HR-related decisions
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to assess problems and implement effective solutions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and effective decision-making across multiple units and disciplines
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and problem-solve with all levels of staff, management, consultants, and external agencies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to mentor staff and present reports, analyses, and project proposals
- Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements, including legislative, accreditation, licensing, and compliance standards
- Knowledge of business software and specialized applications and data management systems used in nursing units or departments
- Knowledge of healthcare information technology and patient care workflows and processes
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing
Licensure and Certifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California
Preferred Qualifications

- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN) or Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification
