Collections Specialist

Location: Headquarters Reports To: Collections Officer Classification: Full Time, Non Exempt Pay Grade: NE 35 ($21.00 - $32.60 per hour) Availability: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm Position Summary: The Collections Specialist works with customers and other business units to assist in recovering funds owed to Pioneer, reducing losses to both the Pioneer and its customers. This includes delinquent loans and mortgages, etc. The Collections Specialist also interacts with outside counsel and other third parties to coordinate repayment efforts for foreclosures, bankruptcies and other monies owed to Pioneer. Key Responsibilities: Reviews, monitors and services delinquent loans - consumer loans, home equity loans, and 1-4 family residential mortgage loans. Conducts fact-finding to understand reasons behind account delinquencies. Monitors delinquent property taxes. Reviews payment transactions and ensures appropriate corrections are made Completes all activities for accounts in the collection queues for necessary/required follow-up. Prepares monthly departmental reports, including General Ledger Accounts, Charged Off Accounts, etc. Handles customer inquiries by phone and letter to assist in delinquent payments, loan extensions, etc. This includes inbound and outbound calling. Conducts maintenance and transactional processing in core system. Prepares adverse action letters to borrowers. Prepares and processes accounts recommended for charge off when necessary. Works with legal counsel on charged off, bankrupt and foreclosure accounts. Handles the assignment of collateral for repossession when necessary. Collaborates with other lines of business to resolve issues related to a customer account and reduce financial loss. Coordinate inspections of property when necessary. Reviews monthly inspection reports and discusses any concerns with management Reviews potential workout options and makes recommendations to management. Ensures credit report disputes are properly investigated and addressed in accordance with regulatory requirements. Engages in skip tracing to locate hard-to-reach clients. Scans documents into ImageCenter. Investigates customer discrepancies on credit ratings and makes necessary corrections. Prepares and files claims on insured accounts. Participates in routine continuing education opportunities to maintain knowledge of Collections Policies and associated Regulatory Guidance, ensuring proper compliance. Perform additional duties as necessary. Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. Associate Degree in Business or related field preferred. Two years' experience in collections or customer service required. Core Skills & Attributes: Must have good human relations and excellent communication skills in dealing with bank staff, third party vendors and customers, professionally representing Pioneer. Must be an enthusiastic, positive, and productive team player. Produce quality work with attention to detail and accuracy is critical. Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks with minimal supervision. Possess strong analytical, organizational, and administrative skills, with effectiveness in managing time and resources to meet deadlines. Proficiency in software such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Must be able to work flexible schedule; evenings and/or Saturdays may be necessary from time to time.
