Customer Service Representative

We are looking for a motivated and customer-focused Counter Service Representative to support our client's daily Branch operations while creating an outstanding experience for every customer who walks in or calls in. This role plays a key part in maintaining a safe workplace, delivering excellent service, supporting new-hire training, and contributing to the overall success of the Branch. This is a Contract to Hire opportunity located near Merrillville, IN. Responsibilities: Engage directly with walk-in and phone customers to understand their needs, recommend appropriate parts, products, or services, and provide clear, timely solutions. Support sales growth by identifying complementary products, sharing promotions, and proactively offering add-on items that enhance customer value. Troubleshoot issues, determine the best resolution method, and ensure all actions align with company policies and customer satisfaction standards. Balance responsibilities across customer interaction (50%), operational support (30%), cultural contributions (10%), and back-office tasks (10%). Assist in maintaining smooth day-to-day operations while fostering a positive, safety-conscious environment for employees, customers, and visitors. Participate in training and supporting new team members to reinforce service expectations and operational standards. Requirements: Strong sense of urgency and commitment to outstanding customer service. Friendly, outgoing personality with excellent relationship-building skills. Positive "can-do" attitude with the persistence to see tasks through completion. Interest in or willingness to learn construction equipment, tools, and industry processes. Experience in equipment/auto dealerships, big-box retail, or warehouse environments is a plus. Bilingual (Spanish/English) required. Ability to manage multiple tasks at once

from processing orders and answering calls to handling inventory and maintaining accurate records. Minimum 2 years of inside sales, retail, or related experience, or equivalent education. Strong sales instincts and customer service skills. High school diploma or GED required.
