Technical Writer

The Technical Writer position reports to the Customer Care Manager and is responsible for leading the production and maintenance of technical publications to communicate complex and technical information more easily.

• Diamond Mounting Instructions
• Factory Work Instructions
• Parts Book
• Tech Tips
• Decals and Product Markings
• Other technical publications and duties as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, Implementation and Maintenance of Technical Publications
  • Research available technology to improve the overall technical publications output.
  • Collaborate with outside firms to outsource any Tech. Pubs. work that is beyond the internal capacity.
  • Communicates clearly with end users.
  • Determines the technical documentation needs of end users.
  • Increases familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Vault, CSI, and Acrobat Professional.
  • Stays informed of engineering project changes/development.
  • Maintains manuals, parts books and instructions as changes occur to existing products.
  • Selects appropriate medium for message or audience, such as manuals, mounting instructions, or service bulletins.
  • Applies engineering principles to solve complicated problems.
• Manual Availability and Accuracy
  • Ensures manuals for every non-restricted product is available and up-to-date.
  • Possesses and increases familiarity with CAD software to produce the parts book pages.
  • Owns process to ensure applicable hard copies of Tech. Pubs. are provided with units
  • Establishes an internal review process to ensure accuracy of documentation
• Production & Field Support
  • Answers technical product-related questions accurately and efficiently.
  • Assists coworkers, dealers, and end-users to address technical challenges.
  • Learns all aspects of our industry and the breadth of our products continuously.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, English, Communications or equivalent experience preferred.
• Must be proficient in: MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Acrobat Professional.
• 3-5 years of technical writing knowledge in engineering in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Location and Hours

• Location: 350 E 60th St N, Sioux Falls, SD 57104
• Hours: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
• Days of Shift: Monday-Friday
