Position Purpose Performs economic, financial, operational, and strategic analysis and reporting related to fuel & purchased power, reagents, transportation, and terminal portfolios in support of fuel supply, purchasing, optimization, and position decisions.

Principal Accountabilities

Must stay abreast of changing market conditions for commodity, transportation, and energy sectors in order to offer feedback to Operations and to implement proper proactive reporting, analysis, and risk strategies for TVA's portfolio.

Calculates Fuel Cost Adjustment (FCA) eligible & ineligible coal, gas, purchased power, fuel oil, and reagent forecasted costs

Heavily involved in annual contracting plan development, reporting, and analysis in support of all levels of management

Develops variance analysis against various base plans in support of Operations, Financial Services, & other internal & external customers

Interprets contract terms, market prices, volumes, and other data to properly report positions and provide analytical services to various customers

Provides ad-hoc analysis for decision support and performance reporting

Performs operational risk and financial analyses (valuation, sensitivity, risk, and decision analysis) of expansion (gas, nuclear, coal) and power purchase opportunities, and existing TVA generation assets.

Assists in the development and analysis of risks at the enterprise level and strategic business units with interdepartmental teams. Provide support of related risk management plans and actions. Produces formal reports and presentation.

Develops computer models for valuation, including mark-to-market, portfolio, real options, and other methods as needed.

Performs financial and risk analyses for the benefit of other TVA organizations. This includes the development of applicable financial evaluation procedures and models, field evaluations, and final recommendations to the manager of the requesting organization.

Represents the Chief Financial Officer and Controller, on agency-wide projects that have been established to resolve key business issues.

Ensures TVA organizations are in compliance with applicable execution guidelines and risk procedures. Maintains and updates risk documentation when applicable.

Supports system implementations, internal & external audits, and regulatory reporting

Minimum Requirements Education:

A Bachelor's degree in finance, business, economics or related field is required. An advanced degree in Business or Finance is desirable.

Experience:

Minimum 3 years of experience in financial analysis, fuel supply analysis, risk analysis, or comparable experience required. Electric utility experience preferred.

Certification/License:

License/Certification in relevant field is preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Experience in fuel supply analysis, fuel acquisition, trading, or risk analysis highly desired. Experience in budget preparation, variance reporting and strategic planning or equivalent is highly desirable.

High level of personal computer skills. Experience using MS Access or advanced Excel is highly desired. Must be proficient in the use of spreadsheets, word processing, data analysis, and presentation software. Knowledge of database reporting such as Crystal Reports and experience in IT techniques and tools a plus.

Ability to work independently with guidance on only the most complex tasks as well as in team environment.

High degree of knowledge of the principles of business, economics, finance, and financial accounting. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
