As Director, Solution Strategy, you will lead the development and evolution of market-facing solutions – defining how we bring our capabilities together to solve client problems, differentiate in priority industries, and drive growth.

This role sits at the intersection of strategy, solution architecture, and go-to-market. You will shape how offerings are structured, positioned, and messaged – ensuring they are commercially viable, clearly articulated, and executable across the business.

This is a strategic leadership role focused on translating client needs into scalable, differentiated solutions and aligning stakeholders to bring those solutions to market effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

Define and evolve integrated, market-facing solutions aligned to client needs, industry priorities, and firm growth areas

Translate complex capabilities into clear, differentiated value propositions, solution narratives, and scalable frameworks

Shape how solutions show up in priority industries, including alignment to broader go-to-market strategies and growth plays

Partner with service line marketing and content teams to shape solution narratives, messaging frameworks, and supporting materials

Bring solutions to life through compelling case studies and real-world examples that demonstrate client impact and differentiation

Establish repeatable approaches to solution architecture, including components, use cases, and commercial models

Enable adoption by client-facing teams through clear articulation, sales plays, and practical application in pursuits

Ensure consistency in how solutions are represented and activated across teams, channels, and geographies

Use market feedback, performance insights, and industry trends to continuously refine solution strategy and positioning

Lead strategic initiatives such as new offering development, industry plays, and integrated “one-firm” solutions

Technical Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Strategy, Marketing, or related field; equivalent experience considered.

10+ years of experience in professional services, consulting, or similarly complex environments.

Demonstrated ability to design and structure integrated solutions that bring together multiple capabilities to address client needs.

Strong commercial acumen, with experience shaping offerings that are scalable, differentiated, and market relevant.

Proven track record of aligning senior stakeholders across functions and service lines to drive cohesive outcomes.

Strategic thinker with the ability to synthesize complex inputs into clear, actionable frameworks and approaches.

Experience leading large, ambiguous initiatives and translating them into structured, repeatable models.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex concepts to both technical and business audiences.

The base salary range for this position in the firm’s Chicago, IL, Downers Grove, IL, Denver, CO, Reno, NV, Cleveland, OH and Baltimore, MD offices only is between $184,000 and $276,000 per year.

The base salary range for this position in the firm’s Washington, DC, Bellevue, WA, Los Angeles, CA, Newport Beach, CA San Diego, CA, Boston, MA, Iselin, NJ and New York, NY offices only is between $198,700 and $298,100 per year.

The base salary range for this position in the firm’s San Francisco, CA and San Jose, CA offices only is between $211,600 and $317,400 per year.

Benefits for internship positions: Grant Thornton interns are eligible to participate in the firm’s medical, dental and vision insurance programs and the firm’s employee assistance program. Interns also receive a minimum of 72 hours of paid sick leave and are paid for firm holidays that fall within their internship period.

Benefits for seasonal employee positions: Grant Thornton seasonal employees are eligible to participate in the firm’s medical, dental and vision insurance programs and the firm’s employee assistance program. Seasonal employees may also be eligible to participate in the firm’s 401(k) savings plan and employee retirement plan in accordance with applicable plan terms and eligibility requirements. Seasonal employees receive a minimum of 72 hours of paid sick leave. Grant Thornton employees may be eligible for a discretionary, annual bonus based on individual and firm performance, subject to the terms, conditions and eligibility criteria of the applicable bonus plan or program.
